OT- EB Shotgun

Post by 2ndovc »

I had a bunch of Gander Mtn. gift cards that were making me crazy. I kept mis-placing them and was afraid
I'd lose them (i'm not real organized :D ). So I decided to just go in and pick something out.
I decided on a Remington 870 "Tactical".
I had a Mossberg 590 for years and gave it to a friend of mine that was living in a tough neghborhood
and having some problems with the "locals". I thought he would give it back when he moved. No such luck!

Anyway,
Here it is, crummy picture and all.
My First commercial Remington, I have a few military surplus Remingtons.
Always wanted an 870!
Has the XS sights and the door breaching muzzle break.

If that thing has a HARD rubber butt pad, I HIGHLY recommend getting a Pachmayer decelarator pad! I've got a regular 870 shotgun much like yours without the bells and whistles, and one of the FIRST things I did was replace the butt pad!! Enjoy, it's a good defensive weapon. P.S, try taking it out and shooting clays with it.

The recoil pad is nice and soft. Shouldn't be any worse than my Winchester '97 Riot gun. :D
Can't wait to shoot it!!

Looks like you picked up a really nice shotgun, JB. I've never owned an 870, but I've had one assigned to me for 20 plus years from the department. One of the most dependable shotguns ever made that's why most LE agencies use them. KISS

Is the door breaching muzzle break a screw in choke type or theaded on the outside of the barrel...or fixed?

That would look good on my 590A1, and I don't think that it would interfere with the bayonet. 8)

It's removable like a regular choke tube. That's the other reason I bought this one, I can get a rifled choke and
use for deer here in OH. With the mag tub plugged of course.

The new R3 pad like he has REALLY WORKS.

And oddly enough most of the new 870 MCS shotguns in military service (seen them in the USAF, other branches mostly use Mossberg) have a pretty similar setup.

We're only allowed three rounds in the shotgun. That's a recent ruling. I'm not really against it.
If you can't bring down an OH deer with three shots you shouldn't out there.

Just my two pennies.

Which makes the bayonet option that much more important.
