OT - Humor - Cattle Guards
Cattle Gurads
CITY FOLK! HOLY... COW!!!
Ok, I'm trying to be kind, but It's very hard sometimes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of you who have never traveled to the West or Southwest, "cattle guards" are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings,
in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area.
For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.
A few months ago, President Obama received a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado.
Because Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, he ordered the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salzar
to fire half of the guards immediately.
Before the Salazar could respond and presumably straighten him out, Vice-President Joe Biden intervened with a request that before
any guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining.
Unfortunately this is a retreaded gag that first circulated about slickwillie back in the mid-1990's. However considering the fact that BarryO is a foreigh city boy, and Joe Biden is another city boy, it is very believable.
Just amazing; am at a loss for words. Gotta watch more CNN and get edumunkated
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
Lord knows I detest slickwillie (I've not referred to that man aanyother way since 1993). And Ii know he was a townie, and spent a big chunk of his life outside Arkansas.Buck Elliott wrote:Actually happened during Slick Willie's administration... THAT'S the sad part...
But I find it hard to believe that an old Arkansas boy didn't know what a cattle guard is
