GLOCK..., at least one of the ugliest, in my opinion.

This one was a last ditch weapon, so looks were not considered important.

I can find beauty in almost all guns but the ones that look the worst to me are the bub'd military rifles - not the nicely spertered ones, the ones that look like a blind plumber did the work.

Hobie,

I don't think those hideous things are in the spirit of the thread, strictly speaking. Granted all automatic pistols and rifls and most automatic shotguns are intrinsically ugly, most of those guns were basically acceptable weapons uglied up to satisfy the owner's bad taste.

Now this sucker was put together at the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch as it fell to the ground.

Borchard C-93 Pistol

Just so y'all will know that I'm not totally biased against ugly flat guns, here is a pretty darned ugly six-gun.

It is a Pettingill .44 cal. Army Revolver.

Germans maade some fine rifles, and they quikly caught the knack for making some fine semi-automatic pistols, but their revolvers left a lot to be desired/

Dreyse Revolver

Ugly is not strictly a German trait. here is a p.W. Porter Turret Revolver.

How would you like a chain-fire with that rascal? i would not shoot one of them!!
Image

BTW, Porter made rifles of the same design.

Gaulois manual repeating pistol, fired by squeezing the grip. It's French! What else do I need to say?

Actually the Liberator Pistols were made by Union Switch & Signal Company for the Amerrican Office of Strategic Services, OSS.

IIRC those smooth-bore single-shot .45 ACP pistols cost the US Government all of $1.25 each.

They were air-dropped behind enemy lines, mostly in Europe, for use by the Resistance. The idea was to sneak up on a German/Italian/Bulgarian/Romanian/Japanese soldier and murder him at powder-burn range in order to steal his weapons and ammunition. The Liberator Pistol was then passed to someone else in need of a weapon.

Each Liberator Pistol was accompanied by a small booklet with pictorial directions on how to load, fire and use the pistol.

FWIW, i learned most of this from an American Rifleman article that appeared a few years ago.

And IIRC the Liberator holds the distinction of being the only firearm that could be produced in less time than it took to load.
