Just snagged another '92 Browning

Post by firefuzz »

Found this last night on GunBroker http://v2.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte ... =160468234 This one needs a little TLC, which I'm more than glad to provide. :D Tried to call a buddy that was looking for one to match his .44 Vaquero, but he wasn't home until after the auction was over. He was really crying in his beer when he saw it. That's ok, he's got a BIG gun vault with lots of goodies for trade bait if I decide to part with it.

Wow - congrats! Now you know how I felt finding a very nice, under-priced B-92 .357 in an obscure internet (non gun site) ad. The slightly cosmetically worn condition of yours is not even a remote issue to me--maybe even a plus! It's how I was able to get my '86 SRC, not to mention appreciating the great instant character! Someone else did you the service of breaking it in. Always a little wary of my fairly "pristine" 92s (357 and 44)--sort of like a spankin' new Colt or shiny new sports car (dang, or so I've heard on that last one!)--so they don't get out as much as should...which is dumb--meant to be shot! My new years resolutions: to put some more honest "patina" on them. Love mine as I'm sure you will yours. Great guns--THOSE were the days.

This gun was in much better shape than the pics in the auction showed. My .44 mag fan buddy was waiting at the house when I got home with it and over the next couple of hours went thru two drool rags while holding the gun. (heheheh he should know better than to drool over a gun he's trying to trade me out of) And like I said in my original post he has a big gun safe with lots of goodies, some of which are now in my possession and he owns the .44.

For the space of about 3 days I owned 3 B92's, two in .357 and the one .44, now I'm back down to one. Time to start shopping again.

That was a great find! I don't know a lot about the Browning B92s. Can someone fill me in a little bit on them? Are they pretty easy to find? Whats their accuracy like?

Browning 92s are NICE.
Browning 92s are RARE (someone will come along and give precise number, but less than 10,000 total, likely a lot less than 10,000...2 grades Standard and HiGrade,( the latter with engraving)
Browning 92s are so Nice, Accurate and Slick I gave my youngest son my as new Winchester 94 centennial Model 44Mag carbine with Williams sight as a present, just because, and I felt a tinge of guilt when I showed him the Browning 92 in 44Mag I had just picked up for $500 Canuck dollars.

My 92 Browning has just been shipped to a gun shop nominated by me, and I have to wait for the issue of a permit to acquire from the Firearms Registry, which should take a few more days.

I inspected it at the gun shop today- nice rifle with a very nice bit of wood.

The wood on the 92 Brownings seems I note a lot better than that on the Browning 71 and 86's I have seen.
