dog

Post by mescalero1 »

Along with the new house, I acquired a new pup.
His name is Gus
( his nickname is Machmud the terrorist )
I am told he is Labrador & Shepard, I can not see any shepard.
He is mostly black, with a little bit of white.
We are going to get snow today, he 3 months old, this will be his first snow, I will take pictures.
Should be funny.

I like Lab crosses. I just buried my best trail dog a year or so ago. He was 15 years old,.... a Lab wolf cross. Second only to a Doby stud I had a few decades back. I just pick up an Akita bitch a few months back,.... makes it five of these critters now on the place. Good luck with your's!

Cool Labs and Lab mixes are my favorites. Careful some times they can be smarter then their owners give them credit for. :D

From what I've seen some of them ARE smarter than their owners.

Congrats... From my experience, I've come to prefer dogs over most humans.

Yup, dogs can be smarter than their owners and the one we have can be too smart for his own good...

OK, so since this thread needs pics and we're waiting on Mescalaro to take some here is a pic of my moms Lab mix:
Tinte 3-03b.JPG
Tinte.JPG
My mom bought him about 16 years ago froma Mexican family in Phoenix. Paid all of $5.00 for him. She wanted a different kind of name for him and we were all working out brains overtime trying to think of one. One day I had a bottle of ink on the table refilling one of my fountain pens and my mom saw the foreign words for ink. She said; Tinte, that's his name. It stuck, he was Tinte from then on. He's a Lab mix, but mixed with who knows what. He was a hand full but turned out to be one great dog. Before moving from Phoenix 10 years ago I used to take him for walks across the street to an abandoned trailer park. Lots of mice there. He was the best mouser I've ever seen. He'd find a mouse hole and the dirt would start flying as he began digging. He rarely missed. Once he got to the mouses nest it was bite, crunch, toss away and on to the next one. I didn't even have to hold the leash. Once in the lot I'd I'd just let it drop and keep him company as he had his fun.
When my mom went down with congestive heart failure she moved to my aunts place. When she died Tinte stayed there.

I have never missed a dog as much as I miss him. He's ailing now, and not much longer for this world. He'll be with my mom soon I think.
