My boys have the youth model and I have shot it a lot. It does fit nicely and makes for quick shooting. I wouldn't mind if it looked like your gun either, pretty cool! Best of luck with it.

Steve,
When I ordered my Stevens 200 in .223 I got the youth model for that very reason, quick to the shoulder.

Steve, that's definitely the most useful looking H001 I have seen. I have often wondered if the youth carbine would fit as I'm not sure I would like the big loop carbine. :?
You have answered that question! :D

I also have mine the way I want it - with a minimum peep and a saddle ring.

I like that a whole lot. I just want to know what the part number for the new front sight is. That would be much appreciated. 8)

Very nice Steve. I too am an itinerate tinkerer :P

It just feels good to get your firearm just the way you want it and working the way you want it. And to know that you did it yourself makes the thing all that much more special to you.

No, Doc - I used a Williams WM-96 Peep, which is a w&e adjustable direct replacement for the rear battle sight leaf of military Mauser boltguns.
The SKS series is almost exactly the same, but with a somewhat shorter forward tongue.

Image

I simply drilled a hole through the tongue for a scope mount screw, and D/T a single hole in the top of the Henry receiver cover between the scope grooves.
A small dwell point in the cover, under the elevation screw tip, holds it from inopportune sideways movement.

It took my full concentration, taxing ALL my mental ability, Kid.

I unscrewed the left rear cover screw, and screwed in a Winchester 94 saddle ring.

I had guestimated it to be about a two six-pack job. ;)
