Yes, we were talking on the phone Cal to Tenn and I had told him about the 1873 Win at the shop. Then I decided it was too much of historical detail appreciators gun but told him this was there - described it as the finest single action ever made. He looked it up on the web site as we were talking and said go get it. So I went to take the pics and make the arrangements.
Streetstar - think you may have inadvertently described the best loads for it 454 CASUAL.

I hope he got the original grips too. They are hand fitted to the grip frame from what I've read.
Why do people put those horrid rubber baby buggy bumpers on single actions? Uggly to max.
Nice revolver, actually an excellent revolver. Good choice.

My first single action was a ruger super blackhawk with 7 1/2 inch barrel in .44, back in 79. your son has done well and that revolver will serve him a lifetime.

Not only UGLY but uncomfortable, to boot. Like having a high-power dirt bike take off from the palm of your hand with every shot.

Well, one thing for sure........ After getting used to the ultra tight lockup and rifle shooting capabilities of his FA, he will look at SA Rugers, Colts and Smiths like they were junk. More for us ---------------------Sixgun

Because that WAS the original set of grips. The field grade guns had Pachmayrs as standard for years. It was extra to order the wine colored Paccawood grips for the field grade, although they came standard on the Premier.

Exactly the gun I got as my first centerfire handgun, except it was the 1976-1776 "200th year" model - I promptly ruined it's "collector value" by getting a gold bead sweated on in place of the front sight, and put my own hand-filed rear notch in it. Still glad I did (I hate "Patridge" sights, and I don't have much use for 'safe Queen' guns anyway).
I had just blistered my hands badly with concrete and had bandages on both hands, so I had to have a friend 'deflower' it by firing it for the first time for me.
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws "first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

Yeah, they did... "Responding to customer requests," they said.
Dick Casull hated 'em, 'cause they don't allow the grip to roll in the hand like it should -- and after he had spent more than $30,000 perfecting the grip-frame profiles...

Well Bob called with his first shooting report on his 454 Casull - said it wasn't bad at all after the first round not knowing what to expect and hearing the stories. He is excited. But on a trip to Canada so won't get to shoot it for a week.
