I had a chance to buy one in stainless in 1985 for about $1,600...brand NEW.

I didn't want a 'federally papered' gun due to the risk of psycho-alphabet-weirdos killing my family over some paperwork mistake or something. Of course NOW, we're on the verge of all guns being federally papered...

Well, for some reason I don't hate it. But from what I've read over on TRF it's pushing $2,000 and that's WAY too steep for me.

MSRP is always much higher than the street price once the newness wears off. But then again if you had to be one of the first to have one you might pay more?
Looks like a nice piston AR to me, but I wont be selling my Bushmaster or Galil any time soon to get one.

Oops...I was thinking of THIS one - AC-556 - ...the semi/full/3-shot-burst one they USED to sell to ordinary people (if you had $1600, that is  )

another AR we can't have here in kaliphornia...has the dreaded pistol grip with a detachable magazine and the horribly evil 'more than ten round' magazine...

this stone age california legislature still doesn't "get it"...

Bill Ruger is probably rolling over in his grave. Finally Ruger sits up and calls out "me too, me too". At least it's a piston gun. Does it have an 8# Ruger trigger or did that lawyer that was running Ruger finally retire. Would Bill approve of the >10 round magazine?

Sorry, I haven't been a big Ruger fan since he cozied up to Janet Reno in an attempt to limit our rights back in the 90's. I have a Mark-I that I bought a long time ago when I was a kid. Maybe in 10 years I'll consider buying another Ruger ... but it would have to be one excellent piece of engineering.
