OT: Sent Off My Taxes & Bought a New Gun

Post by Modoc ED »

Monday, I sent off my Federal and State Taxes and then to make myself feel better I went down to my local gun shop and bought a Ruger Bearcat just like this one.

Image

I usually don't have much use for a handgun but decided that this little Bearcat would come in handy when out and about doing my thing while hunting or just plinking, etc.

I'm going to get a Bearcat specific holster from Ruger and a belt too. Anyway, I'll post a picture of the little Bearcat when I bring it home.

What do you other guys do to make yourselves feel better when you send off your taxes?

Please don't turn this into a "POLITICAL" thread.

BM I used to use my income tax refund to buy guns and supplies or anything fun.
AM I have to be happy if I can mooch enough to buy a box of ammo or something.

I had an Old Model Super Bearcat back in 73. It was the sweetest little single action I've ever had. When walking around in the desert I'd just stick it in my back pocket. Fit perfectly.
The little thing was very accurate with a fun factor of major proportion.

You'll like how portable they are. I really like mine other than the trigger feels more like a piece of wire than a trigger. I keep feeling like it's going to break.

Well assuming that we get a refund, I'll be ordering a Ruger Single Six. Always wanted a single action revolver. I might even pick up a Blackhawk later this spring in .45LC to go with it.

Since my deduction moved away from home, I've been paying every year. I've really been burning up the card laying in ammo and reloading supplies, though.

Ed you'll likely really like that lil bugger. I get a lot of good from the old model one we have around here. It's claimed the lives of several prairie dogs out to 75 yds or so, and will riddle pop cans all day long in the back yard. The only small gun I get more enjoyment out of than that lil bear cat is the wifes other hogleg, the Ruger baby vaquero in 32 h&R.

One of those has always been on my 'someday list' - if any of the local shops ever had them in stock to fondle, I doubt I'd get out of the store with one, but they never have them.

Have one just like yours, like it a lot after I had the trigger lightened. I did have to file the front sight down some, but that's okay - certainly easier than adding metal.

Kids love it. I only wish I had known when I bought it some years ago they were going to make it in stainless steel. Que sera.

I have one just like that. I filed a flat bevel at the back of the front sight so I could see the thing better. However mine is kinda disappointing in accuracy, or maybe it's just me...

It is nice and handy though.

Well, I'm just a big kid so I oughta love it.

If I ever run across a stainless steel one, I'll probably buy it.

I do my taxes tomorrow. I still have my deduction at home and have a pretty good idea of my refund though I may just get an IOU from my fine state government. Happened across one of my guns on the list for this year on AA this morning. Bid but did not meet the reserve. The owner initiated a haggle and offered to sale the gun at my bid price. So after a year and a half of looking, bidding, and losing I have got my Browning A-Bolt rifled 12 ga at least won.
