OT - New Avatar for Old Savage
Well, it has been awhile since I've had avatars enabled, so I just saw Old Savage's avatar again.
Now, don't take this wrong, but it has always bothered me that there seems to be a price tag hanging from the brim of his hat a-la Minnie Pearl.
That's a real shame. I sat next to Old Savage at the Levergunner's Reunion and he's really quite a handsome guy. I can see why all the chicks dig him. The waitress almost dropped her tray while serving our table. Twice.
I think what we really need here is a nice profile shot, some backlighting, studio fill, etc. But until then, I went ahead and airbrushed his avatar a little to mellow out the background.
Before:
After:
Savage, what do you think?

I think he should post a photo of the women...

Well first of all thanks on the women but there are a couple that are really mad at me over politics right now and another that is enjoying it but they are on the east coast so ...
On the Minnie Pearl issue - my wife said that too. It is actually the side of a clock that is on the bookcase. El Chivo thanks for your rework. I will have to look into an improvement.
Here is one with the clock and my youngest daughter.
or the clock and my wife,

Or maybe the mysterious gal on the train - a psychologist friend I don't think Hobie has seen,
she can be fun at a party - or maybe just this one for a friendly high to all my friends here

Mo, that guy is my son - did seven tours on the USS Rhode Island - a ballistic sub. Good pursuit if you know any young men. Electrical work there - a steel company pursues these guys and good jobs available - he loves his.

I know - ditch the 'Minie Pearl' one, and just post pics of the girls/women in your life...

Well now I started messing with this and completely forgot how to do it once you get to edit avatar. And about all I managed to do was lose Minnie Pearl.

Re: OT - New Avatar for Old Savage
Savage,
you can right click on the pictures and download them to your computer, then reload.
Or you can load the "after" pic directly from here:
http://www.musicstudents.com/jonathan/hat2.jpg
(there's a slot in the "edit avatar" which says "upload from url", drop in the url and you're done)
Look, I realize I'm being a busybody so use your own judgment.

Re: OT - New Avatar for Old Savage
You need to have a copy of the pic you want on your computer. You can use PhotoBucket to edit the pic down to the right size (I think max size is something like 80X80 pixels) and save it to your hard drive. Then in the "Edit Avatar" section choose "browse" and find the pic on your hard drive.Old Savage wrote:Well now I started messing with this and completely forgot how to do it once you get to edit avatar. Re: OT - New Avatar for Old Savage
El Chi - I did a picture revision using the fill command on what is the end of the clock which looks like the tag and the edge of the picture frame which looked like the string for the tag. This avoided the fuzziness that your method appears to me to have and left the Navy picture intact. What did you do with yours? Computer options
Here is the larger original I got it from.

Gads, that was too funny, El Chivo! Actually, I think Old Savage was watching a classic western and when the good guy had a "price on his head" he took it sort of literally for his avatar photo.

Re: OT - New Avatar for Old Savage
That is CowboyTutt's Old 3120 and a beautiful piece it is. He shoots it at long range and does quite well with it. I think he might disclose his best loads - they have done quite a bit of work with it. I have seen it a number of times and he brought it to the So Cal Levergunners Reunion last year.
I believe that is the rifle in the small pics in his sig line.

Now that is too funny!Santa's Elite Republican Guard!
The 71/84 with a 485 grain bullet at 1175 fps is the "poor man's Sharps"! It shoots very well with its factory iron sights as set-up by the factory. Those crazy Germans really knew their stuff!
I hope to have an article on "What is Possible with the 71/84 Mauser" by May.

Playing with her "baby"....sold it about 18 Mo. ago..to a pilot in the Confederate Air Force. She restored it herself over a span of about 12 years or so. Cessna 195...330 HP Jacobs L6MB...now she works on Hawker 4000 Jets. The 55 was mine, but I sold it to finance a '66 Lemans.

You have good taste all the way around. You would love the Road Kings Car Show at Santa Anita Race Track - usually around 400 cars. Second weekend in Oct usually. Coincides with my wife's birthday.
most of the cars they don't want you to touch but there are exceptions.

Ed this is the Abracabra - an America's cup yacht - that mast is 110 ft tall - for $100 they would take you out for 3 hrs in San Diego bay.
and, they will let you take the helm with 2500 sq ft of sail - fun!
