We lost a great dog last year, and soon afterward, we adopted another one. We didn't plan on getting the next one. He is not a replacement, but he is a new chapter in our lives. Like a well loved book, I enjoy looking back at the previous chapter and remembering the good times. The new dog is such a fun loving and energetic young kid that we have an impossible time remaining sad around him. He is not the same dog, and he is not a replacement. He is his own personality. He jumps in and out of his pen whenever he wants, and it is a 4 foot fence. The other dog, Whiskers, never jumped. They both loved being a part of the family and they both barked at strangers. Don't close the door on a possibility of taking another dog into your heart. To paraphrase Charlie Brown, "A day without a dog is like a day without sunshine."

I'm so sorry Amigo! This was way too soon for such a tough little dog. Like Sixgun I've been through this many times and it never gets easier
and honestly it shouldn't.
Dogs love unconditionally and want nothing more than to be with their pack. I've been working an enormous amount of hours over the last six-seven months that my pups have all let me know in their own way that their not happy with me being away so much.
My great worry is our Dane Lucy. She's developed a bladder issue that is under control with some medication but has to go back for more tests. She's going to be 9 this March and it worries me.
Thor was taken way too soon but has a room in all of our hearts!!!
