The kitten I got my wife last year (shelter rescue) has proven adept at "mousin'". Doesn't eviscerate 'em, but does play with 'em till they "break". Fears the outdoors, but seems fascinated by it. Sits in any window for hours... but when invited out... stays close and comes back inside when you do.

If I was not so deathly allergic to cats, I would bring one in....Thor would have an energetic playmate.

Maybe not....he's actually made friends with these through the screen door....He actually lays down and presents a submissive posture to them. He has been out on the porch with them, and gotten smacked a few times, too

I had a friend who put his girlfriends hamster or gerbil or some kind of rodent/pet in it's little plastic ball (it could crawl in it and make it roll), then let his cat in the room. The rodent was terrified, not knowing that it was 'safe' in the ball, but the party ended when the plastic ball got batted by the cat and went down the basement stairs. Fortunately the only thing harmed was the plastic ball; the rodent/pet scurried away in the basement clutter to be rescued by an angry girlfriend later...
