And of course just because it was written into the movie doesn't mean Johnson ever carried a .30 Hawken. Who knows. someone who would walk from Red Lodge to Cody just to take a bath might not care if he only had a .30. lolMalamute wrote:I thought they had refered to it as "a .30 caliber, but dang if it wasnt a genuine Hawken", and made a big deal out of Hatchet Jacks being a .50. I've never heard of that small of a caliber in a Hawken, I don't believe they ever made any. It was considered a squirrel rifle in the east.

Re: The Mountain Men
We have a nut job that fancys himself a mountain man that haunts the high country above us. In winters he camps in cabins that are boarded up for the winter, use`s the firewood, propane and food. When it runs out he shoots the place up, steals all the survival stuff he might later use, and moves on to the next. He has burnt a few, and he has shot up religious pictures. Now there is some speculation that I tend to agree with that he might be the fugitive murderer, robert fisher. Fisher shot his wife and slit his two kids throats in scottsdale arizona back in 1999. He hit the wilderness and hasnt been caught.
Recently a trail cam got this guy on film near a cabin he hit. He has been hideing out up there for a number of years. In summers he camps in secluded areas always about 50 yards from streams. Several of his summer camp sites have been found along with many guns and supplys he had stolen.
Along with that, there has been marajuana farms found around here that are planted and guarded by the mexican drug cartel. I know of about a half dozzen found and destroyed by leo in the last two years. Arrests have been made and in all cases they were all illegals.
My wife and my biggest entertainment is rideing the trails and exploreing the boonies on our ATV. We have found that we have rode past or near every one of those sites in the past.
This guy is a burglar, vandal, and quite possibly a murderer. We and many others ride the boonies armed. It`s a good reason! Last year we called in a cabin we seen burning in the far distance on one of our rides. I see where they claim now he has burned several. I am posting some recent local news articles about it and fisher.

Re: The Mountain Men
There is more articles on the net on this and fisher. To my dismay I found that when I typed a reply and hadnt posted it yet but leave it to go to a article and copy it to post on my reply that it has disssapeared! Its not like other sights where what your working on stays while you go to get a lead to include. Why is that? Is it just my computer? Anyway I had to type this twice, and I see that I left out other facts that I forgot. Oh well!

Don't forget he also blew up the house afterward, though the real damage had already been done. Dangerous fellow.

Since I like to play devils advocate, was he ever convicted of these crimes?gak wrote:Booger Bill said

Re: The Mountain Men
As far as the movie goes, the above is correct. They were talking caliber not round balls to the pound.gak wrote:Yes, you're right, see my posted clips earlier in this thread.Malamute wrote: I thought they had refered to it as "a .30 caliber, but dang if it wasnt a genuine Hawken", and made a big deal out of Hatchet Jacks being a .50. Still an active search, and I believe he is still at--or near--the "top" of the FBI's Most Wanted list. I'm sure (?) there's more recent updates, but they lost his initial track in Arizona's White Mountains 4-5 hours from Phoenix, found his SUV and IIRC dog.sore shoulder wrote:Since I like to play devils advocate, was he ever convicted of these crimes?gak wrote:Booger Bill said

Re: The Mountain Men
Irregardless if he's Fisher or not it appears whoever this subject is, because I'm not saying it's him, they've committed numerous other violations against society in the burglary, thefts and arsons in the cabins he's visited. I suspect he's left more than enough latents and DNA samples around to verify their identity. They need to pay for their transgressions whoever they are. I'd be more than a bit ticked to return to my place and find items stolen and burnt to the ground or damage. I wouldn't hold a grudge against anyone who needed those items to survive and they replace the items used later and don't maliciously do damage.sore shoulder wrote:Since I like to play devils advocate, was he ever convicted of these crimes?

Re: The Mountain Men
My point being, until he is convicted by a jury of his peers or confesses then he is considered innocent. People are stating he committed these crimes as if it were fact. First I heard of the story is here, but for whatever reason my conspiracy meter is pegged.gak wrote:Still an active search, and I believe he is still at--or near--the "top" of the FBI's Most Wanted list. Re: The Mountain Men
If it`s him I wonder how he made it over the grand canyon? Probley hitch hiked or stolewayed on back of a truck or something. He aint the only one. A indian shot a park ranger over at moab a couple years ago. The ranger wounded him and the indian hit the wilderness, hasnt been run down yet.
This is a poor county without the resources of more populated areas. If this guy was staying in those cabins very long he had to leave fingerprints. Evidently the ball was dropped. Probley the first number of break in`s leo probley thought it not as serious as it seems to becomeing. Maybe he set those other cabins on fire so there wouldnt be evidence? I have friends that had their cabin broke in, a remington pump stolen etc.
They have the huge sum of $1,000s out on this guy in our county. However I see there is around $100,000s out on fishers ears. Not bad for a unconvicted killer. Someone in scottsdale must be fairly sure of his guilt and hideing out for almost 11 years!

Re: The Mountain Men
I just noticed one more thing on my first lead that shows two pictures of the intruder the trail cam took. Notice in the 1st picture the way he is carrying his rifle at ready opposed to the secound picture where he is leaveing and obvisely satisfied that the place is uninhabited. His rifle is now slung easily over his shoulder as he walks off. Whats does that suggest? Go take a look!
