Whatever it takes.
I doubt that could do this today. But it’s the right way.

Yup, I always liked the way Matt did things, he never was one for pussyfooting.

Another line I like from that movie is..."You may not know this, but there's things that gnaw on a man worse than dieing".

And, when it comes to remorse, who can forget Josey Wales famous line when his partner laments they can't take the time to bury some would be attackers:

.
Matt did good.
Kind of disappointed in Kitty that she just stood there looking why the guy was crawling towards a gun; she should have either got in control of the gun and shot the guy or at least got the gun out of his reach.

Re: Whatever it takes.
But Doc the script told Kitty to stand there like a helpless woman

Re: Whatever it takes.
I am sure there are some out there, but I don't know that I have ever run into a "helpless" woman. I have run into helpless young ladies but all they needed was some real life experience.
Re: Whatever it takes.
I'd say the reason he told Kitty to stand there is he did not want her in the field of fire while he verified that the BGs were down and out. It took a finishing shot and Kitty was safely where he wanted her to be. Anyway, that's the way I saw it. I've known people who are experts at being in exactly the wrong place at exactly the wrong time, to be helpful.

I was being sarcastic Grizz, actors can't think for themselves, have to be directed on everything.

Amen. My wife, all 5' of her was sort of timid and shy when we met. One reason I liked her. One day someone tried to grab her baby. She went mama bear on him. A woman's nails can do an amazing amount of damage in a very short time. And we won't even talk about her teeth.

I’m disappointed that Chester didn’t volunteer to shoot one of them!!!!!
Re: Whatever it takes.
Years ago I was doing some firearms training in a Police Academy and they were running us through using the old FATS machine. The scenario was where a partner and I stop a car and arrest the driver. As my partner is handcuffing the guy he turns on my partner and breaks loose with the cuffs only on one wrist. He is fighting my partner and getting the best of him. I pulled my gun and shot the bad guy in the head. The instructor stopped the scenario and said, "You can't do that!" I said, "Sure I can. And believe me, by the time the watch commander gets here we will have our story together." The instructor just shook his head and we went on.
That was 40-some years ago ... long before body cameras.

Re: Whatever it takes.
I was at Thunder Ranch and fixing to go into a shoot house. Clint set up the scenario.
He told me that this was my neighbor’s house and I had seen men breaking in and grabbed my rifle. I could hear her screaming for help.
I asked Clint “am I sleeping with her?”
He said “no.”
I backed off from the house and took cover. Then I pulled out my cell phone to call 911.

This was before I met Miss Kathy. I know better.
Re: Whatever it takes.
When Paco was in the DEA they were doing hostage rescue training. There was a fun house setup with hostages and bad guys. When it was his turn Paco kicked the door yelling EVERYONE ON THE FLOOR and shot every target that was standing up.
When I worked in Corrections that was part of our training. We were taught that if we were taken captive, if the place where we were was breached we best be on the floor because anyone standing upright would be shot.
