Awesome Video of USCG 47' MLB Motor Life Boat

Post by Old No7 »

Besides leverguns *, I'm a lifelong boater and I also have a 30" radio-controlled twin-screw scale model of the 47' MLB -- these boats are awesome!

Anyway, here's a Link to USCG 47' MLB Video (click here).

* I just wish one of those was nearby the day my old john boat sank with all firearms aboard...

Enjoy!

Looks like the rescue boat school at Cape Disappointment, Washington. Those boats are designed to roll over and self right. Then just keep on going. We’ve got at least one stationed here. Pretty impressive boats.

I almost threw up watching that. Yep, I'm no good on the open ocean.

Here's a couple of images of the R/C MLB that I have...

Doing a rescue of my son's sunken speed boat.
The first MLBs were painted all white like this one, but the Coasties changed to unpainted aluminum to lessen maintenance costs:

And here's the crew I added, plus I also installed a revolving radar sweep:

Darryl, my brother lives in Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia, where these boats get a very frequent workout! Amazing craft and God bless our Coasties.
Rimfire, I am in your camp, too. Gave up on fishing for salmon off the Oregon coast years ago as I was barfing too hard to care about reeling them in ....

.
Wow....

Pretty tough boats.
