Classic, heavy Filson wool mackinaw

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Fellas, I would like to find a good home for this Filson Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, size 40. It is the real deal, about five pounds of virgin Filson wool. Filson patented this design -- four cargo pockets front, hand pockets, full-width back pocket -- in 1914. It is in very good condition with two very small holes, one visible near the left shoulder, front, and one just below the cape, near center, on the back. I bought it new when I still lived in Oregon and wore it a few times, but it is not seeing any use here in Texas. Filson asks $495 for this flagship coat. I'll ship it you priority for $250. Your grandkids can wear it.

Filson stuff WAS great until they sold out!
I have a Tin Packer coat that I will never give up. As well as their rain bibs.
Now it seems they have jacked prices way over what inflation should be and have started to cater to the manbun/ coffeehouse/ yuppie type!
Your deal is a bargain!

Will, I wore out a Filson tin-cloth cruiser's vest working for my Dad cruising timber in the Redwoods during two summers, and as you know they are made of iron! But having to run compass chain day after day through all manner of wild rhododendron, chinquapin and salal over your head took a toll. Still have the second one put away, and it is worn as well, but I also used it for many years as a vest when fly fishing, so more brush! I also have an old Filson "Forestry Cloth" wool cruiser's jacket that I will never let go of.
Here I am being silly wearing that Filson cruiser and other 1930s hunting gear with my long-departed Brittany, the Watson, 15 or more years ago.

Not silly at all - you look like a gentleman on a jaunt through the English countryside looking for upland game!

The English dress better to go hunting than us Americans do to go to church, and love the pic with your dog

Well, I would take $200 plus the $26 for the large flat-rate USPS priority box to send this to its new home in the "polar regions" north of Texas.

I had no idea, but guess I should of how much these have increased in price over the years. I have one in the closet I bought about 1975. A bit different as it is a size 52.

I am a size 42 so it just isn't going to work.
