Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
Excerpt from the article:
“In theory, scientific research should prize curiosity, dispassionate objectivity, and a commitment to uncovering the truth. Surely those are the qualities that editors of scientific journals should value.
“In reality, though, the biases of the editors (and the reviewers they call upon to evaluate submissions) exert a major influence on the collective output of entire fields. They select what gets published from a large pool of entries, and in doing so, they also shape how research is conducted more broadly. Savvy researchers tailor their studies to maximize the likelihood that their work is accepted. I know this because I am one of them.
***
”Similarly, it is standard practice to calculate impacts for scary hypothetical future warming scenarios that strain credibility while ignoring potential changes in technology and resilience that would lessen the impact. Those scenarios always make for good headlines.”

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
It's 109 here Ray, on the 5th of September, and has mostly been in the 100s for months, with no rain since early June. Just sayin.
Just before moving here from NM, I asked my supervisor's wife, a Texan from near the Metroplex, if there was any vegetable gardening here. She said are you crazy? Between the heat and the rain it is a paradise. I musta moved to the hell part of Texas. My tomatoes gave up weeks ago. In NM, I was getting tomatoes into October.

Here in the heart of dixie we have two seasons...... february & august !
What we need is one of these ......
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer
But without the human tragedies in the vicinity of the volcano(es) nor the global famines that usually follow.

climate is changing, it is in constant change. it is not because of anything we are doing. it is not because of a gas that is .04% of the atmosphere. it is presently near the low point of the last 9,000 years of climate history, if there have been nine thousand years.
The climate changes to suit the Owner, who set all the fine points of the fine tuning, and there is nothing we can do to stop it, short of an actual nuclear winter, which appears to be the objective of the lunatics destroying America, and could conceivably be incorporated into the Owner's rehab project, who can say?

Climate change is very real, every 4 months it changes!!
I've said it before, earth warms up then an ice age. It's happened, will happen again and there is not thing one mankind can do to stop it. Mother Earth knows what she is doing- we are just along for the ride.
Mankind is doomed as we know the sun is going to burn out in another 4.5 billion years or so.
Even if the world population got off the planet tomorrow earth would still warm and cool by itself.

When there so many people with agendas involved in writing the studies and articles, and they have displayed such a clear tendency to distort and exaggerate, or even fabricate, their data, it pretty much means the whole subject matter is worthless to pay any attention to. That’s sad because there might actually be something constructive we could be doing, but not in the presence of these alarmists and zealots, who pretty much stand to make profits from fear, or thrive on the virtue signaling involved.

Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
I remember as a kid reading about the coming Ice Age....

I'm getting real tired of waking up and not going hunting....
Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
Saw an interesting thing yesterday. “Scientists” discussing the hunting techniques of the Neanderthal based on their assumptions on it’s physical ability. Arbitrarily deciding that it would be able to sprint as opposed to run long distances.
Basically, the piled assumption upon assumption then claimed their guesswork proved their theory. All done without any actual facts.
This was a wonderful example of testing a hypothesis in a manner designed to prove it’s validity.

Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
Gobblerforge, that's quarter century old data taken from a single source. A broader average can be found here (see Fig.3) and other places on the web.
Your plot shows plummeting temperatures are due, heading to the next ice age (which may have lead to those breathless 1970s articles), but instead it's been hanging fairly steady since the last ice age.
The interaction between CO2 and water vapor and how they might affect global temperatures was discovered in the late 1800s. It was thought rising CO2 would fend off the next ice age, and thus was good.
The long cycles are thought to be due to the earth's orbit over the millennia creating more heating in the north at times. Such heating would drive CO2 from the oceans, which would then reinforce the warming trend and later delay the following cooling.
Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
The earth is cooling. No wait, it’s warming. Either way we’re all going to die. But that will be long for the millions of years it will take to figure out which side was right.
Heck, by the time anything of consequence happens we better already by off this rock or we’ll be extinct. Probably from some wandering meteor like the dinosaurs.

Yep, that's how Fauci was able to muzzle the scientists who knew the truth about his lies. He controlled their funding.

Re: Climate Change -- Don't trust science!
The climate has always been changing. Like so many other things, change is the only constant. If, and it's a BIG IF, man has any impact it is negligible at best. The big yellow ball of burning gas has more impact than anything man could do if every soul on earth tried...
This is not to say we shouldn't be mindful as stewards of God's creation. But we certainly shouldn't destroy our economy and condemn billions of people in emerging countries to halted advancement over the leftist real desire to simply control mankind.

This documentary was interesting, and yet I think illustrates why I am skeptical of the climate crowd.

All of the theories about the era of the so-called Snowball Earth are so unknown and they have to make all these guesses and then contrive theories to explain things that they admit they are unsure of. Well if that is the case, then why can't they admit they are unsure of what's going on now...?
