Still working on the economy First Savage!!

Post by win92 »

This one followed me home tonight. 250-3000 My first Savage lever lever gun.
She's a little rough I knocked a 2 inch plug of mud out of the muzzle end Bore is screwed right there but my bore scope says the rest is OK. No cracks but lots of surface rust. Project Gun?? Click on the pics for a closer look .http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh20 ... CN8064.jpg[/IMG]

A nice EG. Look on the projection that the lever pivots on and find a small oval with a number and letter, an example would be 12D. This letter will tell you when the rifle was assembled. My guess is it's going to be a D which would put it circa 1952.

I remember them well, my uncle bought a new one in that caliber in 1954. Clean it up, shoot it and enjoy it.

Your Savage has the tapered forearm with curved tip that I like best of all. I feel that Savage performed an aesthetic goof when they deleted this attractive feature.

Savage 99 rules! This dandy coastal blacktail in California never knew what hit him.
