USPS disturbances in the force

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Friend Ray bought a.223 upper from me here. and another friend bought a 10mm Glock barrel on another forum. Both packages went through the Atlanta USPS processing center and now are delayed -- or worse. Anybody else biting nails over stuff that is funneled through Atlanta? I thought Covid staff shortages weren't a thing anymore ...

Service and competence in general have never come back compared to pre-COVID days. Very few people seems to take any pride in their work. It will be the undoing of our country, along with many other factors.

Don’t know why anyone would use USPS, we can’t even get our letters delivered by them.

Sadly, the USPS is likely the most inefficient and corrupt federal organization. Old Ben is rolling in his grave.

Memphis and St. Louis are also particularly bad.

I think the USPS problems are nationwide. Their service was horrible during COVID and has not recovered.
I'm pretty sure they are not delivering non-package mail daily, but sporadically instead.
Since Amazon started using them for Sunday delivery (instead of UPS) Amazon 2-day delivery is more like 3 to 5 day delivery.
On a positive note, my long-term useless carrier must have retired and now the packages at least make it to the porch instead of being left in the road, yard or driveway because the carrier is too lazy to exit the vehicle

Vance, that was inexcusable. Glad you have a new carrier.

Poor service, stolen packages, damaged packages. It seems to be more common among USPS than any other method.
And don't even get me going on how tough it is to get USPS to pay off on an insurance claim! Be prepared to contact your congressman if you have an insurance claim with USPS. They'll always deny your claim, regardless.

My Dad retired from the Postal Service in 1982 after 28 years service. Service has gone downhill ever since. Hmmm... that was shortly after they hired my brother-in-law... I wonder if there's a correlation? Oh, wait, he retired 2 years ago... so further degradation is not his fault! :P

Our mailman retired after 48 years! He never had a fancy mail truck, he drove his own personal IH Scout diesel. In the winter he had a plow. He never missed a delivery and packages weren't left at the street. I guess 'neither rain nor snow nor dark of night' means what it used to.
The local PO has 1 person working the counter, he is there 6 days from 5am to 5 pm and it's obvious he is in a constant state of exhaustion.

They are all terrible.
FedEx went three weeks with "Business Closed" at my FFL last month. All BS, the guy was there every time.
USPS keeps losing or destroying settlement checks I have sent from our main office in Erie, PA. UPS has broken at lease three rifle stocks over the last few years and it's always the same BS and won't cover the loss. Hate them all!
