Just finished a great book

Post by jnyork »

For you that enjoy reading on the Old West, here's a great story, actually autobiography, of one of the most celebrated of the buffalo hunters, Billy Dixon. Best known for his actions at the Battle of Adobe Walls where he knocked a hostile out of his saddle with his buffalo rifle at a range of 1500 yards, the book details his entire life of adventures in the early days of Texas, Oklahoma and other parts of the West. His wife Olive helped compose the book, which is offered here in Amazon.

My grandmother grew up on a ranch just upstream of the Dixons'. That is a very good read, and if you ever get the chance to visit the site of Adobe Walls II, do so.
