Had my last pre operation talk with the doctor and he thinks 5 hours under the knife should do it. They have me on a liquid diet because they want my guts empty so they can move things around more easily. Trying to get a lot of things done, it’ll be 2 months before I can lift more than 15 pounds.

Well Harry I can sure understand what Your going through. having had several eye surgery's I was unable to lift more than 10lbs for a month or put my head below My heart. when We live in a rural setting it's just about impossible. I can only hope that the operation is a 100% success and Your back to normal very soon.

Oh man! Didn't know.......you'll be fine as the only modern technology I like is the medical field......you just have to be smart enough to know an operation is warranted. Knee surgery killed my sister in law....took a year to kill her but she would have been better off to deal with the knee pain.....

I WILL NOT have any joints replaced nor will I take any kind of covid shot....

Truly wish the best for ya bud and for real, I'd help you out if I could.

Can only lift 15 pounds?.....well, I'd have to have a 24/7 catheter put in........---006

Keep us updated or what I would do....shut the world off which I've pretty much have already done.

5 hours under the knife ain't to be taken lightly but you have some great surgeons over there so I'm sure you'll be back to fine fettle real soon.
I can't think of anything over 15 pounds that I want to lift anyway not being as blessed as Sixgun.... :?

Did you hear about what the governor of Utah said?……He told Californians to stay where they are and that people from Utah don’t like people from California…. He continued that their resources are limited and he don’t want them coming there and driving up prices to everything.

It’s going to happen…….we won’t see it, but Cal. is going to be a third world nation.

And then there was a lady who was beat and her dog killed in a New York park….the cops said there was little to no reason to go after a black homeless guy who lives in the woods…………Fox News…..

I believe the best states to live in……..maybe not financially……are the northern states like Montana, Dakotas, or even Maine…..for real….the trash don’t like the snow….

Nice out today……..

I live just outside of Great Falls MT and we have homeless, transients or whatever they call themselves. There is a rescue mission downtown that lets upwards of 100 camp on their property. That’s until this fall and the city planning committee told them to clean it up or face a fine every day. They cleaned it up and we’ll see if they keep it clean.

Hey 45……that neighbor of yours is the type where getting revenge actually livens them up…..if he comes back just avoid him completely and if your eyes meet, just wave happily……..I’ve been around those types, they are dangerous, feel hopeless, and don’t care if they die…or take anyone with them………for real, even help him out if you see him struggling with something. Normal people does these things anyway, but it’s human nature to avoid a deranged person if they are having trouble.

If need be, hold your fire if possible……right or wrong, you’re going to be charged and probably bankrupted by his heirs.

One guy at work used to walk around with bulging eyes………can’t believe the plant even hired him as he had a record of beating up a guy in his late fifties and putting him in a coma for a month…….they eventually fired him and had the State Boys escort him out.

Personally, I would buy a case of cheap whiskey and leave it by the road with a busted bottle or two….he will think it “fell off the back of the truck”………..and hopefully he will drink it up in a day……..good riddance…..

Either way, his days are numbered…these types rarely hit 40.

GK…..there is a solution for a common gun that millions were made……..I can send you the exact same gun in parts…….grind off the serial number …..and reserialize it…….to the one that’s on paper……..or I could just send you a BP revolver………or maybe, get a hammer with a long handle, there’s one of them laying outside of Paul Pelosi’s house.

I didn’t know you had an 1881 Jayster……looks to be in nice condition……….how did you get the letter as I thought the Buffalo Bill museum recently got the Marlin letters?…..I had a nice talk with the head of curators the other day……yes, Miss Jessica took my call with enthusiasm. She was telling me that the Marlin records are sketchy at best…….the people who originally wrote down the records were only given a very small space to record each gun and many of the times, important items were left out. On two guns I was only able to get the date of shipment.

Oh well……..women are nice to look at but that’s about all….they demand your time, want this or that, expensive to keep, moody, want the upper hand……….in my next life,I’m just going to rent them…..by the hour…..:D———006

I had that 1881 for about 20 years, but I didn't letter it till around 2016 I think. I did letter it from Cody, however. I actually sold it a few years ago. I think I had around 600 bucks in it, so it was a tidy profit.
It was a really neat rifle, and quite scarce with the 24" barrel and shotgun butt. It was made in 1888, and what was weird is it came from Athens Maine. The story is that that old crowbar had killed more moose than anyone would believe.
My buddy has a cool old picture of a log cabin by the stream in Athens taken way back. There are three guys with moose, deer, and caribou in front of the camp. The caribou have been gone here since well before 1900. I looked for the old 1881 in the picture, but didn't see it. That was probably half the population of the place in that picture. I could ID at least one 1873 Winchester, however.

I've not seen any Rig grease locally but thanks for the heads up.
I should be ok to keep my licence even if I have to surrender my guns, if that happens I will buy a shotgun and probably a .22 rifle, at my age that's all I need.
If the worst happens I will legally buy a couple of antiques, they will have to be cap n ball but I don't mind that as I've been using them for years and have a lot the makings.
The strange thing here is I can legally own certain antique guns but it's illegal to fire them unless I have them on a valid police licence....

That’s a nice ‘81 you had Jay…..lots of condition which you don’t see on pre 1899 guns. Ya know, it’s hard to imagine the caribou being wiped out along with nearly wiping out the deer and the moose with what, 17 people in the whole state? Yes, of course there were more than that but even today Maine is very remote……they claim that there were only a 100 thousand deer in the whole USA around 1900.

Yup. That tops anything this old hick has buddy. Far and away.
That is super nice. What a hammer that thing must be in 45-90.

I think the caribou just left.
Thirty or forty years ago, they tried to reintroduce them here. All the old timers laughed at them and told them they wouldn't stay. Guess what? Them hicks was right. Those caribou got in a nice big bunch and walked to Canada.
I'm pretty sure the ones that were here originally were a different strain of caribou. But for whatever reason, they left. I think it was a combination of climate and changing habitat, due to logging and farming.

My Old Friend who passed ten years ago told Me about going to see an Uncle in PA a looooong time ago . He had an 86 in 45-90 . He and his Brother were maybe 18 or so and He let them shoot it. Mr. Williams said recoil was pretty nasty to shoot but they did anyway. Mr. Williams is the Gent that had a whole bedroom lined with gunracks that were all full. At His estate sale I think He had every caliber of Savage 99 ever made . And the Winchester model 100's and 88's new in the box were something to see. I never got to see all of His Guns as the Family skimmed the cream off the top......
Oldwin, we were at Conneaut Lake Pa prolly 20 years ago at a historical site and they had a picture of a set of Elk antlers that were pulled out of the swamp at the north end of the lake. It said the last Elk had been killed there in 1825. I bet the Elk were hunted to extinction here.

Yup. Same all over.
Some stuff is gone altogether. Some is scarce now and was plentiful a hundred years ago. Some stuff that was scarce then is everywhere now.

There are more deer now than there were years ago. The moose population exploded compared to a hundred years ago, but that was from hunting for meat back then.
When my grandfather was a warden, he shot every hawk he saw. They are everywhere now. And I mean everywhere. Same with eagles. They live right here in town down along the river. When I was a kid, it was a big deal if you saw one. Same with owls.
Coyotes are bad now too. Ours are a mix and get quite large. They have become a problem for a lot of game animals. Not to mention people's pets and livestock.

That 45 Colt guy in “one way”……he was supposed to pick me and Miss Apple up…….Here I am waiting with my suitcase and Miss Apple had her blanket and nada, nada, nada…..

Meanwhile a guy comes over and picks up the other pavilion……GONE……Here I find out this guy and me know the same people. He grew up a few miles down the road but since moved to Maryland…..he informed me of another guy who we both knew died….late fifties…..ticker went bad……..this guy who died came into a lot of money and bought a new 350 Ford pick up and a Kubota tractor just like mine…..when he was here (dead guy) a few years back he slobbered all over my mighty Kubota…..saying, “I’m gonna get one of these one day”…..it only had like 20 hours on it……..

Hard drugs killed him from his earlier days usage …….nose candy………I used to tell people all the time….beer and weed…beer and weed…..

Black
Hot
Extremely strong

Hey buddy!
I saw in Jim's post on the 41LC that you had a bunch of old grips.
You wouldn't happen to have a set for a Colt Army Special would you?
The set on gramps old service revolver are both broken at the rear bottom corner. It had a hard life. :D

Anyway.....if you have a set you want to sell, let me know what you want for em and I'll have Kristy send you a check. :D
I don't write checks. :D

Yup, alcohol and nicotine was all I "thought" I wanted as a youngster now I wish I hadn't indulged in them either........ but boy did I enjoy it at the time......

Coffee has to be strong and hot for sure, over here everyone drinks girlie frothy coffee.,

Still watching amateur German WW2 movies and some French made ones too, I love the weird accents of the US troops trying hard to sound American. I'll have to get back to watching Westerns.

I wonder if old 45colt will bring us all back a souvenir...... :?

That 45 Colt ain’t gonna bring us back nuttin’ but a bunch of lies……he’s gonna come back and say he went on a date with Annie Oakley….

Jayster….I know I don’t……..have some single action Colt and a pair of Police Positive and a lot of junky beat up Smiths that are missing medallions. The Army Special was a big framed gun and if I’m not mistaken, the same frame as the Python. Try your Python grips to see if they fit and we will go from there. I believe the Army Spl. were hard rubbers.

I’m gonna clean some of them up and post em in a week or two. I do have some really nice stuff but I think they belong on guns that I have that I put stags/ivories on…..

Those hard rubbers are easy to fix……I can do it and I’m sure you can……First, you drill some 1/16” holes into the broken part. This is for the glue to have something to bond to. Then mix up some PV-7 (HAS to be PV-7) This stuff dries dark grey so mix up some leather dye that’s the proper color and mix that in with the PV-7…….make it larger than the part your fixing…..after a couple of days in a dry warm place start sanding and polishing.

I’ve done it with Winchester butt plates …even added the checkering…….

I think you may be right about the Python grips. I'll have to give that a try.
It's no big deal buddy, so don't sweat it.

Haha those pieces are loooooonnnnngggg gone my friend. Probably buried in some dead poachers scull or laying in the Allagash where gramp whacked a Martin on the head before taking it out of a trap. I KNOW gramp killed two bear with it, but it wasn't with the butt. Pretty ambitious for a 38 Special. But like I said before, old gramp never thought the 38 was underpowered.
If that old Colt could talk.

No...no...no....I didn't expect the pieces to be there......you make the pieces with the PV-7.....as long as it's not half the grip....I did at least an inch and a half on the bottom of a Winchester butt plate.....

Hey! There's a company that sells reproduction hard rubber grips....can't remember the name.........it ain't nuttin to made em look old........wait till 45 Colt comes back and we will whack him on the head a few times....you know, loosen em up a bit. He probably a poacher coming from upstate.....or we could give him the gun and he could whack his crazy neighbor a few times.....

Little fine sandpaper to match the finish on the gun and then a bit on the polishing wheel.

Yeah, that's an idea bud. I had thought about a set of repro's before. Just got off onto something else and forgot about it. I should scrounge up a hand for it too. The one in it is a little worn, but it's not real bad.
That Colt was used when gramp got it. It was made in 1915 and came from Madison, where gramp lived when he was young. All he told me was the guy that had it was from a family of outlaws.
But hey, so was we. :D

Keep in mind you have to have the condition of the grips to match the condition of the gun or it’s putting a suit on a monkey.

When you get time post a pic or two and let Mr. Colt make the diagnosis. What caliber is it in? I never had an Army Special but I do know it’s a robust gun made with a better lock work than earlier Colt double actions……maybe 15 years ago I was fondling one in 41 L.C. that looked like it was made yesterday…….none of the early Colt double actions grabbed at me except the large frames…Same with Smith, large frames is where the loot is. An Army Spl. is a large frame but mostly in undesirable cartridges…….except maybe the 32-20. Don’t know if they came in target versions as I believe most all handguns need target sights.
