My apologies for missing these posts. A belated thank you very much. I'm 63 now, and finally retired from my State job with early full disability retirement, and Me and missus have full medical, dental, and vision. I am working on getting an early disability social security too. Will probably still have to work until the day I die just to pay the bills. The price I pay to live in "paradise".

Nice to see your post and a happy belated as we.
Best of luck with the SS people, they can be difficult.

Hoping the fishing has been good!

This will be round two with SS. I found out that the SSA ALWAYS reject first application even if you have no legs or arms, and your name is "Bob". After round three, I have to get a SS nonprofit advocacy group involved. I passed the strict scrutiny of the State retirement system so I have my hopes slightly up. One of my fishing buddies for the past 50+ years just passed away from liver cancer so that knocked the wind out of my sails. Maybe after the funeral I can back into the swing of things. Mahalo for the input.

Aloha Friend, My back is about as good as it's gonna get, with a permanent 10 pound lifting limit disability rating. I finally got a settlement from the former employer's insurance, and all this WC BS is behind me. My lawyers got 2/3rds of the final settlement. They did put me through college, and now I have a degree in architectural engineering, big deal. Problem is no one wants to hire a disabled senior, employers are paranoid of liability. I have literally submitted over 200 applications in the past year and a half. I found one job as a project manager on a government construction project, but the employer had me on a 40 hours a week salary while working me 72+ hours a week minimum 12 hour days, 6 days a week. I was getting barely minimum wage when pay adjusted for the additional hours worked. I resigned after that project was completed. They wanted me to stay. I told them slavery was abolished in 1865. Also a workman's comp check does not count as employment, so I do not qualify for unemployment insurance. My 4 months at last job not long enough. I am living off my saving, and that's drying up quick. Hopefully I can get my early disability social security going. Enough whining, I'm going fishing.

That was when I still lived on Maui over 15 years ago. I believe you were visiting a botanical garden about a half mile away from my home. My office was at the Lahaina Courthouse. I went to work on Maui back in May thru July 2022, and WOW has it changed, SO built up with miles of new 4 lane highways, shopping centers, and no more vast fields of sugarcane and pineapple. Subdivisions where there once were fields of pineapple, and just a dust bowl of dirt and dead weeds where fields of sugarcane once grew. Place is overrun with Axis Deer too. I saw a herd of 2 dozen at mid-day on my old street. No deer at that elevation 15 years ago. I'd never move back there.

I had a PIG (Lucille), and three 357 mags including a Stainless Rossi single shot. Still got all 3. In fact I have more now than then due to inheriting my dad's guns when he passed away in 2007.
Were you in Tampa, Fl.?
