Prayers for Souette Quinn

Post by CowboyTutt »

Gentlemen, Souette Quinn, Jeff Quinn's widow from Gunblast.com, has been diagnosed with breast cancer as of last week. Her medical team is just now coming together this week to make a treatment plan for her. She is looking at 18 months of various treatments. She has told me it is OK to place a "prayer thread" for her here and she will be checking in on it. She said the overwhelming support has already been very uplifting for her. I would like to keep that going. If a Moderator wanted to make this a "sticky" for the time being as her treatment will be long term, I would appreciate that a lot, I think she would too. I will update as I get more information if at all possible. I must respect her privacy as she wishes as you can imagine. Thank you Gentleman,

-Tutt

Prayers up.

She should ask her physician about iodine. There are some studies that show it reduces risk of breast cancer and some studies that show it may slow breast cancer down or even stop it. Like everything else that are also studies that say the opposite.

Hopefully the oncologist says read studies on both sides and knows what's best.

From Souette on FB.
Home!! 😀
FYI: some have asked about my traveling this weekend. And I don’t mind sharing.

I‘ve had a dozen appointments already in Nashville the past 2 weeks. My medical team is in place.
My surgery date is on the books for Monday, Feb. 6th with a few appointments in the preceding week. After healing from surgery, radiation and chemo will follow over the next few months.

This week including weekends?
Well, my medical team all agreed that this week would be blocked off for just me. “Go somewhere!” “Have some fun.” “Take time for some travel and we’ll be ready for you when you get back.”

I thought that was pretty amazing. 💖❤️‍🩹💖

Sounds like she is in as good a place as possible under the circumstances -- with what sounds like a really good team. This right here is an answer to prayer.

Our prayers are sent.

As many of us know, the struggle with cancer can be a long and bitter journey. May God be with her.

Got an update tonight from Souette. They inserted a port into her chest this week to prepare her for 12 weeks of chemotherapy starting next week, to be followed by 6 weeks of radiation. So things are going to get hard now as most of us know how debilitating chemo and radiation therapy can be.

She did say, and I quote: "Every prayer is appreciated here. Every. Single. Prayer." She says she still feels pretty good for a 65 year old widow woman. She sends her thanks to us for praying for her.

Obviously, things are going to get harder now.....

Gents, she and I have never met, but she seems like a truly wonderful woman and the widow of a man who was most respected in the fire arms industry, and who personally inspired me in my firearms choices more than once and was personally very kind to me (and his brother Boge too.)

Please send another prayer for Souette Quinn as she is also fighting for her life, like many.

As my fellow Brother Tycer is fond of saying,

KInd Regards,

-Tutt

My prayers are still coming from across the pond for a full and speedy recovery, by the way I think Souette is a lovely name, not heard it before.

I certainly pray for her! I never really used the gunblast site much but do so more lately. He seemed like a real deal straight shooter and I'm sure they're both! Prayers for a speedy full recovery!

Miss Souette, you sure have my prayer that the chemo and radiation pass quickly, do their job and you come out of this in good spirits with “cancer not detected”.

An update from Souettes FB page. I did not want to bother her personally this time.

"Week #4. LET’S GOOOO!!!
Caught a couple of shows in Nashville this week before hitting the chemo chair this rainy Thursday morning.

Wearing some ice pack gloves to help the blood vessels restrict some so the chemo drugs won’t hit the hands so hard this time around.

The hair is falling out really quickly now. The wind actually blows my curls away like the dandelion seeds blowing in the Spring. I just laughed. It’s a rebirth.
Abby will do the official shave on Saturday…just in time for me to wear a fancy “doo-rag” and one of my hats to Easter church service on Sunday.
Easter…it’s a rebirth you know! GLORY!!

Still blessed more than I deserve.
Have a great weekend everyone. 💝
~S"

She is such a trooper!!!

Another update. I think has a newer one, will check:

"You are just too darned kind Andy for thinking of all this.
I'm good for now...I promise. But if I get in a bind, you'll be the first to know.

Here is an update:

Next week is the 1/2 way mark for my chemo. 6 of 12 weeks in the books.
After 3-4 weeks of "rest" ...I will begin radiation every day for 4-6 weeks.
So, if no complications arise, I should be completed with all my interventions by mid-summer.
I'm blessed to say that the past chemo sessions have had minimal...and I mean MINIMAL side effects. No major illness to speak of and I"m thankful for every hour that passes without sickness.
Other than my hair loss and the "sunburn" to my hands the first round....all is good.

I understand that chemo meds are cumulative in nature and the second half of this therapy may not be as smooth as the first, but we'll take each day at a time.

Thanks to all for the ongoing prayers, uplifting words and overall kindness. I feel the love. I really do.
~Souette"

Many have asked what my oncology/infusion area looks like at St Thomas West, so here are photos.
The staff is amazing, personable and attentive.
