Was by the LGS today and there were a number of 99 Savages with one forelorn 1899 in 30-30. Looked like it had be dropped on the Buttstock and snapped at the wrist and a piece broke off right behind the receiver. Put back together with a few screws, some copper nails and wrapped with some fine wire. Shame because it was a nice piece of wood.
Bore kind of rough looking and no finish left. Pretty sure its a 26" octagonal barrel. I felt sorry for it and It did follow me home and in the shop with some foaming bore cleaner, soaking overnight.
Pics tomorrow
Can you tell me about it? Where to get another buttstock?
Thanks

You might be able to salvage that stock. With an oscillating saw you can plunge cut pieces from under the buttplate to use as laminate or slivers and the dust makes correct filler.
Kind regards,
