Took a little effort

But the bore is finally clean and not a pit in it. .30WCF from 1934.

Nice. Is this a new acquisition? I've got a 64 Deluxe from the early 50's, it's nearly pristine on one side and rubbed smooth on the other - I suspect it spent a lot of time in a saddle scabbard. I don't think there's a more natural feeling rifle for quick offhand shooting than a 64.

So, what process did you use to clean it? How bad was it to start?

I think that a 64 is one of the most beautiful rifles ever made. Very nice.

Good luck, my all time favorite rifle, and yes the most beautiful IMO!

That's still my method. Very nice old Winchester there.

If it's anything like the family 25-35 it'll be a shooter! Lovely rifle. It gives a great feeling to bring one back into good shape.

Nice! I traded into one a few years ago that had been drilled and tapped on the right side for a scope mount so it has one now and a Lyman aperture on the left.
Kind regards,

Whew, looks good, welcome to the Mod 64 family 👍! I guarantee it'll win your heart, good looking rifle! If I'm not mistaken 33 or 34 was the 64's first year?

I've had it for some time. I bought it cheap because someone had previously mounted a side-mounted scope and drilled 4 holes in the left side of the reciever, but I never really took it out and shot it, or even cleaned it up.

It takes time, but it isn't so hard on the barrel as some other methods. With these old guns, it seems to be the way to go.

I don't know, but the serial numbers run with the 1894 Winchester of the same era.

I'm pretty sure they numbered em right along with the 94 as if no difference.

That is what I am facing with my Martini-Henry. Hopefully it cleans up like yours!
