Ah, West Midlands is it? As you wish there gk. Had no knowledge of the Connery connection. We mainly know him from 007 over here in the colonies as you say.

RULES I know about rules, boy do I know about rules I live in what used to be Great Britain until rules brought it down to the uk a pity full little country with a great history but top heavy with rules. I probably break more rules everyday than I ever obey. Political correctness is just another ridiculous rule I can't abide, that's why I'm proud to belong to OW's Chairmen thread. It kinda nails my colors to the mast.
Everyday rules of common courtesy I will happily follow BUT heaven help those who pee me off with rudeness.

Ever thought where rules come from? I really wonder why you can own a BAR but your cap pistol has to have an orange plug in the muzzle, my cap gun doesn't but I can't own a BAR, who comes up with this stuff :?:

And of course the MayTag repairman, loneliest guy in town. gk you are unlikely to get that one from an old ad on the tube.

And new cork screw from Bryce National Park.

For a short time there was a brand of Cigarettes called "Strand" the TV advert showed a lonely man smoking a Stand cigarette, the slogan You're never alone with a Strand.

They say that advert killed the brand...!

Why would that kill it I wonder?
Seems like a good add campaign to me. Not much different from the old Camel adds.
Anyway........

Went over to the middle kids last night to plumb up a sink. Yeah....fun. Didn't get home till 9:30 last night.

He bought one of those Dodge Challenger Hellcats. He has to go pick it up Saturday. Thing has like 800hp. Crazy.
The one he had before had the 348 Hemi like my truck. It was a 6 speed standard and that was crazy fast. This one has the 392 Hemi with a supercharger. It is a standard too. It come with 2 keys. Using one restricts it to ONLY 500hp so it's easier to drive on the street.
Can't wait to try it out. This thing is going to be ridiculous.

I could NOT own a car like that. I'd be in jail. My kid is WAY more responsible than me. He had a couple of Mustangs too. Every time I drive those cars I'm 18 again. I lay more rubber than a man ho. :D

Haha I was the same way. I started on dirt bikes when I was a kid. Consequently, transitioning to the road was difficult with all the "rules".
My buddies and I had many struggles. Outrunning the cops and "riding dirty" was what we called fun.
I eventually went back to the dirt to stay out of jail or the cemetery.
When I bought my Harley, it changed. It is the only bike I've owned that I can go 5mph UNDER the speed limit and still have fun. I just like to listen to the sound. :D

My one Neighbor I had for ten years had two Son's (about 50) that were in their 4th childhood always building hot rods ,one bought a new Indian Chief..They told me they were done wrenchin on motors......One showed up one day with a new Challenger . He said He had to put I think 2000 miles on it to break it in and then the dealer would re-program the computer to the high end hp. He said it was the fastest thing He ever had. :D .

Yeah. His old one was pretty fast. It was Plum Crazy Purple. If you short shifted and side stepped the clutch, you'd better be ready. That thing would break loose and was quite a handful to hold onto.
But, as long as you didn't purposely try and break it loose, it would stick quite well and handled very good.
While it looked like the old Challengers inside and out, that is where the similarities ended. I've driven the originals too.

Not seen the Dodge Challenger but I did get thrown in the back of one of these :
140827-GCPD2.jpg
It was only for a photograph as the Charger was over here for a movie promotion... together with a pretend Cop.

Speaking of Cops, they sent me a letter today saying because of the delays in renewing my gun license and the fact that I applied 8 weeks in advance they are extending my gun licenses for another 8 weeks, so I can hang on to them and still buy ammo for the time being.

Good news on your guns John! Glad to hear.

Yeah those Chargers are nice cars. You can get the same engine options as the Challengers. There is also an all wheel drive version in the Charger. They are pretty fast. They are popular as police cruisers. Around here they use pickups and SUVs.

I saw one at the dump thus week and I thought of you, Six.
There was a minty one in my grandmother's basement. I should have kept it.

My sons is black. It isn't new but is like new. It came out of Texas. He got a pretty good buy (he is always doing stuff like that). Low 40s I think he paid.

Six I tried to sell the Maytag idea to Shirley but you know how these females are about their labor saving devices. …

Thanks Jay, I should get my gun license back ok as my record is clean, more than can be said for my reputation...

As much as I like looking at muscle cars I've never really had a hankering for one, rusty old pickups are more my style nowadays, maybe I have been influenced by watching too many Redneck movies or listening to you guys.
OS has me down for a Bon Vivant James Bond type of English gentleman, sadly I'm more of a Peaky Blinder crossed with a Benny Hill character...

Six,
While there are people like that up here, there are many (it is an old tradition) that are the opposite. They are loaded, but act and live like paupers (I'm not one of those).
Me? I don't pretend. I act like a broke hick cause that's what I am.

GK,
Don't ever change buddy! When it gets to be too much, we'll have a shack for you and the missus up to the lot.
I'm with you. Been into 4 wheel drives all my life. I like the old muscle cars, I just know my limitations. I almost bought a 71 Cuda years ago. Vitamin C orange with a black billboard stripe. Had a 383 slapstick with a sure grip. Should have bought it. I could make a killing on it now.

OS, my son and I have had seven Suzuki's between us but none of them looked like that....
Knowing what I know now I should have moved to the Colonies a long time ago, my son is hoping to emigrate to New Zealand at the end of the year, I don't blame him it sucks here.
Don't worry Jay I couldn't change if I tried, always been of a rebellious nature and a non conformist and it seems to get worse the older I get...

Drove over to Bangor today. Got a new pair of Red Wings. With only a few years left, I keep stacking them up downstairs so I have enough new boots to get me through retirement.
Stopped into Lowes to get a new cartridge for the shower faucet. Then hit Gaegans for some hot wings and local brew.
Got home a while ago. Got the shower faucet fixed. I should go out and vacuum the lawn with the tractor, but it's 45 degrees and the wind is blowing like crazy. Guess I'll wait.

Haha you paint a picture bro! Only someone who's been amongst em would know all that haha.
We don't have any of that info up here. Ain't none around.

With us, it's backwoods or welfare bums. They hit the store for a gallon of milk and a half gallon of Allen's Coffee Brandy. Then stand in the parking lot with the hood up till someone comes along with a set of cables..
Allen's is the official drink up here. 95% of all that is made comes to Maine. It's called Gorilla Milk, Fat Azz in a Glass, and a bunch of other stuff. If you mix it with Moxie it's called a Trailer Fire.
The stories of things people have done while hammered on it are legion.
Yessirree.......we is some cultured. :D

Well.....I'm going to bed.

Ash make fine firewood you can even burn it green if you really have to, splits easy too. Unfortunately a lot of Ash trees over here are dying of Ash Die Back disease.
