Seems to be a lot of blowing smoke to avoid addressing this breaking news about 40 year old stuff that some thought they were prescient in stating.

And there is MY point.
Who knows what state went for who? The whole election was completely corrupted. And what got done? Nothing.
So what message is sent? Nothing will change. At the very least, after that debacle, there should be reforms. Yet not only is there none, they talk about making it worse.
It's ALL a sham.
You wanted examples.....?
Start there.
Then there is the whole Covid fiasco. Totalitarian overreach galore.
Epstein.
The border.
The Clintons.
Think I only pick on democrats?
Trumps bump stock ban. Totally illegal, yet it was allowed to stand so now they all have the green light to follow suit without congress.
Big government Bush with the patriot act that basically stripped everyone's right to privacy or due process.
Need more?

How about the fact that no matter who gets in, NONE of these things will EVER be reversed.

These people are untouchable and unaccountable. That is all the proof that is needed. It only goes in one direction. It is a one party system offered as an illusion of choice. If for some reason someone slips through that doesn't play ball, they are dealt with swiftly and completely. They don't even worry about how it looks.

Well most of that is true but it is not new news, just the latest examples of what you are saying. But since I never believed in it I am not surprised or going to let it control my attitude. I have realized at least since the Kennedy assassination that powerful figures were trying to
rig the game if not before as early as we began to study history. So like cold and wind on the golf course I do what I can to deal with the issues. I don’t see that constant angst is beneficial or accomplishes anything except stress which I see working against people physically everyday in practice. AJ would say the same I am sure.

Why would you ever have believed in a just system? Where did that naive belief come from? And there was never a time when some HRC wasn’t getting away with something … when was that. So in a windy environment like here 25+ mph the wind will always affect the ball flight so what to deal with it. Belief in a shoot out, you’d be fooling yourself on that one.

So voting, sure on who I think may be least effective in going the way I don’t want things to go or who I might think might actually hinder that direction.

I am quite surprised again that you all would have ever believed there was a just and right system in control. Where did you get that idea with all the info in front of you.

Again, not new news which was the point.

I ain't getting into the whole political thing as I try to avoid criminality in all its forms but something Six said struck a chord with me.

quote : In other countries small arms have been available but were never a way of life like they are here.

That from where I unfortunately live is a true statement, the gun in America from it's earliest days has always been an essential tool but not so much elsewhere in Europe.
So as Six as said before, better to have any brand of gun than no gun at all and keep everyone shooting, either hunting or target but KEEP SHOOTING.

Funny I was thinking to post an 'amen' before I even got to the last sentence.

With four kids and three married an starting to breed me a herd of grandkids, I'd hate to think their world will be doom, but here's why I say 'keep breedin' (aside from it's fun)... The world has always been a place bouncing in and out of hell; if it's not Kent State and Waco, it's Tiananmen Square or Krystallnacht. Go back a few decades and it's Pol Pot, Stalin, and Hitler - or Mao. The Black Plage. Ghengis Khan.

There have always been turds hitting the fan, sometimes by the dump-truck load.

Humanity doesn't get a break. MAYBE if we pulled all our hands out of other people's pockets and pulled all our heads out of our own butts at the same time, and formed not just "a more perfect union," but formed "a truly perfect union," we could have a fair and just world where goverent actually fixed or even prevented problems instead of caused them, but that's unlikely because 10% of us are unethical and would steal if we thought we could get away with it, maybe 1% are violent and would assault others, and probably 1/1,000 would rape or kill without remorse. That is enough that there will always need to be sanction for an "arrest, try, convict, and separate" system of some sort. That seems to necessitate goverent. Goverent attracts idealistic do-gooders, who have NO clue about human behavior, economics, or reality, and they form 10-40% of government at best (that's skewed towards local soil and water boards and so on); the other 60-90% are greedy sociopaths (or 'socialists', usually), who will destroy anything to accrue power and money. They gravitate towards the 'higher', centralized positions, and even 10% would be an overly generous figure for our current legislative bodies.

So, until we form a better government, and that is hard to do, we will be stuck in various shades of hell, with an occasional glimpse of heaven. The U.S. got close, and had a pretty high bounce.

I do think the fact that we still are by and large a 'gun culture' (especially if you take away the ten most populated of the 3,000 or so counties), means we still have a chance; it may not be the Red Dawn or Patriot movie revisited, but you just don't want to mess with people who buy AR-15's and Glocks like people in other nations buy microwaves and dishwashers. It just gets too costly to oppress them. MAYBE starvation or grid-down is their plan, and most everyone hits panic then, and fear usually causes normal people to beg even the tyrant for help. But I'm not so sure that fear wouldn't just make lead start flying towards anything perceived as a threat. I'm to old to do much but sit on the sidelines with a beer and a shotgun on my lap, but some of these young guys who 'get it' and have good jobs, good money, and good sense, have families to protect, and plenty of stuff with which to do that. Many are veterans. Our 'endless wars' the powers that be seem to keep going may have a side affect against their agenda they hadn't thought about; the 'militia' has been well trained.

Now more than ever I think individual citizens actually have the will (many have lived freedom, or at least seen it on TV), and the means (worldwide communications, modern firearms) to make it difficult to oppress them long term.

At least so we can hope. I'd rather be a 'peasant' here in the U.S. than in Europe 500 years ago, or anytime or anyplace else for that matter.

That is one of the best capsulizations I have ever read. I think it was Jefferson who said as soon as we get this together they will start to tear it apart. The framers may have come down from the Masons who may have come from the Templars and were trying to escape from the control of Royalty and the Catholic Church. 10/13/07. If you read the Bible through as history there are a progression of governments. My view and everyone is entitled to their own which means so am I is that God is letting us demonstrate that this won’t work either. That is before he comes back and says enough now, no more chances at this. And that for the reasons you have capsulized.

On the keep on going on, if you play golf with the young guys I do at times you will see they have none of these jaded opinions and feelings that come along in the 50s and 60s. They have the energy and outlook to pursue the fun options with positive expectation.

Maybe I should issue apologies for subjecting all to tax prep week which began with a bogus TurboTax from an online Walmart purveyor. Of course no help from Walmart or Intuit. Bite the bullet and head to Staples and of course wrestling with the program changes and 34 areas we need to review.

And AJ, the UPS that was on the old John Wayne farm burned down so .., the X-ray film we ordered was not delivered 3 times by the substitute UPS driver who would not follow their procedures.

Continuing HOA adventures for my Pres wife. We will skip that.

So if I have let that bleed into the discussions here apologies.

Did have patients drive in from Utah, NC, AZ, and NV, with various issues, attractive women though ;-)

Here is a scene from the 5 acre mountain top my oldest daughter lives on in Atascadero. These guys don’t care about any of this stuff.

So chill out may be the message.

Happy Easter boys.

We just got the house emptied. Kristy made a great dinner of ham and all the fixings. The boys, their dogs, and my folks came over. We face timed with the DIL and grandkids in Alaska. My son was out bear hunting with his buddy. Maybe he had Six's old 95 with him. :D
We had a nice time. The best part of holidays is all getting together. Quite a bunch. As I'm sure you can all imagine.

After last night's ramblings on here it puts things in perspective. No sense in getting cranked up over garbage I can't do anything about. I do good for a while, then something tweaks me off and I fall back down the rabbit hole.

I stripped and cleaned my Ruger 22/45 Lite while Kristy was cooking dinner. Poor thing hadn't been cleaned since I don't know when. Still ran like a champ though. I've made a few mods to it and may make a few more. I'd like to set it up as a small game getter.
I also cleaned up down in the gun room. Vacuumed too. Looks all spic and span.

That was me Doc.
Ummm haha. See if I can remember....
I put in a Tandemcross filler for the stupid loaded chamber indicator.
I did the "slingshot mod", that gets rid of the hokey way you have to depress the bolt lock to drop the bolt.
I also put in a Tandemcross hammer bushing. It smoothes up the operation and gets rid of the magazine safety.

I still want to put in a Volquartsen hammer and sear. And also a titanium firing pin.
I also have a spare Burris FF3 laying around I may mount up.

AJ, I simplify the political outlook. 30% on the left, 30% on the right each of whom preach to the choir and expect everybody should follow their reasoning. 40% are some flavor of in the middle and as a whole decide elections if those are honest or relatively so. The middle will probably swing to the right in the next cycle. But don’t count on that. That is the most basic view of political “science”. Of course all sorts of finer delineations come into play as you have noted … beyond what I have said.

I might also say there are those in the political spectrum who want to portray it as right vs left. I wonder if that is just to kind of hide from open view the middle controlling the outcomes.

Well, now I need therapy. I went to the store and they didn't have any baloons. They kept trying to sell me these balloon things. I guess it's ok. The baloons are just identifying as balloons. It's all good now.

Sun is out. It's 40 here today. It was spitting snow yesterday.

I think I will take the Jeep for a ride down to Home Cheapo this afternoon. Need some faucet parts. Checked everywhere local (2 places) and they didn't have anything.

When we were kids we shot slingshots all the time. We were pretty good with them, but my cousin was the best shot with one I've ever seen.
I used to cast 44 round balls for mine. They worked perfect.

I still have mine. I should dig them out and shoot them sometime. Always enjoyed shooting them.

As a teenager I used to buy packets of three balloons from a little corner store but the proprietor said to call 'em wizbangs so as not to embarrass his other customers.

Never was much good with slingshots but my son is quite a shot.

My total property taxes are 1k bucks a year. That's everything with the schools and all. It was 300 bucks when I bought the place.

I shoot a slingshot like a bow. Left arm extended with the slingshot at 90 degrees outward. My right hand comes back to an index point on my cheek. Then it's line of sight to target.

Well hmmm? 00 wants gk to eliminate OS. Think we have both mentioned before that is above our pay grade. You are going to have to present your case to a higher power.

What then … I would have to come back as Birdman of Leverguns and request green name clearances. Probably possible but then in ironic turn of events the Birdman would be watching 00 like a hawk. Interesting.

Here is the Birdman’s current base of operations kind of like the Bat Cave. I suspect he might be off on a mission.

I am gonna have to check what the Birdman is into there. Looks like he has a Ka-Bar, some Elvis music, various loading manuals, some 32 Mags and some 45 Colt. Also looks like he might have his own cell phone there. Now what in the heck could he be planning? What is he up to?

You would be one of the three most interesting.

But Bad to the Bone Bird Man, the International Uberdude, and south of the border Bad Man Jose ain’t no concerned about you Gringo.

Now on to the book, I am thinking Pacino to play you in the movie but how about OW? Would have gone for Sean Connery for gk.

Ok, your writing a book about a lot of things I see. On the chapter about me, leave it out and call the book a mystery.

Don't even mention my name with Sean Connery.. That scumbag was partly responsible for the UK handgun ban....

Ozzy Osbourne is a fellow Brummie and at least still alive..
