Rem .30 150gr CL?

Post by 1894cfan »

Got a bunch of Remington 30cal 150gr Cor-lokt bullets, anybody used these? What calibers are they good for? Have .30 GOV'T'06 (Win M70, made May '41, with Lyman receiver sight), .308, 30WCF and 300blk riffles. A bunch is several hundred boolits.
Also have about 500ct Rem 30cal 130 spire points, what are these good for?

You used to find these loaded in 308 and 30-06 anywhere ammo was sold. I see them as best for those two cartridges and those of similar speed for deer size game. Would probably be fine in 30-30 at closer ranges. Idk about 300 blk.

The 130s are varmint bullets. Probably work well for practice and pests in any of your 30s. Maybe a well balanced bullet in Blackout.

Thanks, 44shooter. Swaped the CLs from someone who needed a bunch of bricks of 22lr for Sat. open house training at an indoor range I used to go to. Must have about 7-8 hundred bullets in my stash, just never got around to using them before now. Same with the 130s. Actually got the 130s from Midway some 30 years ago and never really used them either. I'll try them in the 300blk.

I take the 130gr weight back, just ran them on the scale, they're the old 125gr spire points with canellure! Now I know I'll try them in the Blackout!

I think you did alright on the CLs. That’s a popular bullet in a popular caliber and weight. You can always sell or trade to get something else. Pretty good hunting bullet too.

The lighter ones will probably do well in the blackout or any 30 for varmints and such. It is not a deer bullet though.

Thanks for the info on the CLs. Just loaded 70rds with the 125s, 18gr H110 @ 1.937" OAL approx 2Kfps. At that velocity just might work for deer and other like sized game, too. Not planning on it though.
