We have a memorial page. It would be fitting to leave a tribute.

You can hardly find an old timer in Texas Hill Country that doesn't have one or two neat tales to relate about this Tall Ranger. His books are a great read, neat guy, and a genuine Badass. RIP Ranger.

Visited a relative’s grave in Valentine. I wish I knew who was leaving flowers.

Dinner with another old friend, Sheriff Jim Wilson.

Contrary to popular belief, Jim and I are not dead yet.

This morning I’m headed to Porvenir to see where the massacre happened. If it wasn’t so darn turbulent right now, Jim and I were talking about saddling a couple of horses and riding that part of the River like we used to.

Joaquin was a friend of mine for more than 40 years. He got me into law enforcement. I never had reason to think anything but good thoughts about him. This is our last photo together in 2014 when we were planning to visit the site of Sitter’s murder. As I recall Robert Leahey snapped the photo.

I rode the river from Porvenir to Candeleria then back to Marfa through Pinto Canyon.

In more ways than I thought. I also picked up Terry Murbach’s old SAA Colt.

Robert Duval has been trying to make a movie about one of the stories in that book for years. I hope that if it happens, I can be a part of it.

Apparently Terry kept records on how many rounds he put through this gun and, according to Bobby, it was well north of 5000. However, the gun does not show it.

Hopefully I can get out to christen it today.

Edited. It shoots high and left. May have to do some load development. But when I got home Rob at Simply Rugged had sent me this to carry a SAA in.
