Scat ID requested

Post by kasTX »

All,

I figured someone here with the right experience might be able to identify this scat that a relative found on their property. Dollar bill is for scale. It contained pits of some kind, though it was found under an apple tree. I have a guess what kind of animal left it, but in the fifty years I have been familiar with the property, I have never heard of one coming around or even being in the area.

Anyone have a good idea what kind of animal left it?

Thanks,

Looks like bear pelosi to me. If it was smaller, I would say "wash bear" (other name for Raccoon).

What I did not realize was that s*&^ is a bad word. Apparently it is because when I typed it it was automatically changed to Pelosi!

I've been using that word all my life and never realized that someone thinks it is a bad word.

Thanks all!

I guessed it was a bear, but this was in southwest Reno in an established neighborhood far from what I would think of as bear habitat. Bear either traversed several miles of open dirt/sagebrush or worked its way through neighborhoods. There’s no public transit nearby, so I have ruled out the bear taking a bus. :D

The fires in California are pushing critters into urban areas looking for food & water.

Back a few years ago when "cowboy churches" were quite popular, I watched a sermon on the telly and the theme was explaining our fallen predicaments/tendecies with agricultural similes.......

(1) original sin and general unrighteousness.....Living on on the farm/ranch and having to muck-out the barn.

(2) common human error without premeditation.......Accidentally stepping on/in cow/horse patty.

(3) premeditated willful sins. (iniquities).......stepping on the aforementioned dung and slipping down in it.

(4) egregious and unrepentant premeditated willful sins. (abominations).....doing above and rolling around in it with relish !
