I have a 4 and half ish inch SUper Blackhawk in 44 mag that I can shoot Specials out of but I don't have any handgun in 38-40 or 44-40 sooooo my train of thought has transferred tracks. I have two older Marlins in 38-40 and I think 38-40 might be more interesting than 44 special.

Off the top of my head, I would say yes. The 38-40 isn't a 38, it measures .401. You would just need to see if the O.D of a .357 case is smaller than the neck dimension of a 38-40, and I'm pretty sure it is.
Of course, you'd need to re-barrel or re-bore too.

Thats what I was getting at, provided the 357 OD is small enough to clean up with the 38/40 reamer ya should be good to go. You would have to compare cartridge drawings. Should be as simple as reaming chambers/ throat & a new b-b-b-barrel.
When John Gallagher and I did my single six we were making cylinders on a rotary head mill. But we were turning our own cylinders. In this case you already have holes through, might want to open those up to a few thousandths under size, then run the reamer in to cut the chamber/ throats. Much easier on the reamer to take light cuts. Heck ya could probably cut them by hand. Oh and make absolutely certain to POLISH each chamber!!!!!

WHEW!
On the job this morning, boss man's wife calls to relay a message from coworkers sister that she tested positive. OH GREAT!!! :x . So he leaves to go get a rapid test done. Thankfully it was NEGATIVE. Since his sister tested positive he has been wearing a mask at home. She teaches pre-k cookie crunchers and as norma,l parents send their sick kids off to skool. Hasn't this 'pandemic ' taught the world anything!?
Ok so now I dont have to scramble to get Mom to her doctor appointment tomorrow AND I can go shootin Sunday! :D

No, tropical storm/ hurricane Henri has been dumping rain since Saturday night. I suppose I could have grabbed my heavy rain gear and my Benelli and gone shootin but I KNOW better!! Luckily no heavy wind being well west of the track so just constant rain all day.So wet not even the girls would go outside, had to practicallydrag them out!. Fortunately the power stayed on.

We had a severe weather warning but it stayed dry and was quite a pleasant weekend. I keep seeing weather warnings but so far nothing out of the ordinary.
Still didn't get to go shooting :( I took my SxS .410 down to show Shirley, she was thinking of selling her Mossberg 20 gauge pump and buying a SxS I said the pump is a better gun for her needs even though it is permanently restricted to 3 shots. Since the shooting in Plymouth there's been a lot of speculation that pumps and semiautos will be banned in the UK but I personally don't think that will happen, as the Plymouth shooting was the result of a police cockup.

A 50 BMG levergun ? :D

I got a text from one of my shooting buddies, they had the All Clays shoot yesterday, 25 targets each of skeet, trap, wobble trap and bunker. Apparently the rain held off until late afternoon ( not what my radar showed), my luck if I drove out there it would have poured!

Well this happened......
It's no secret that I've always wanted a 4.75 Colt. I mean since I was a kid.
I've been lucky to get 2 good Colts. A 1st gen 45, and a second gen .357. Problem is, they are both 5.5. The short answer would be to sell one and get a 4.75, but my sons prefer the 5.5, so I don't want to sell them.
I had kind of decided I wanted a 44 Special, but they are only a custom shop item now and I was looking at 3500 bucks and a 2 year wait!
Nope.
So, I settled on another 45. I wanted a recent production, because all reports say the quality has been pretty good lately and they have gone back to the removable cylinder bushing since around 2003.
This one was made very recently. It's braaannnnddyyy new.........
But won't be for long. :D

Hot there- HA! Brutal humidity here, quite toasty at 84 and sawdust, dirt, dead insects all landing on me as we are tearing coke bottles (vinyl siding) off this house. Actually quit a bit early today just because of the yuck weather.
Coworker that tested negative went for a second test, negative, yesterday but doctor said he had to quarantine 10 days so we are down by ¹/³ in man power. Tomorrow we start tearing off the roof/ framing & walls so excavator can start digging for the addition.

Man! I mowed and did the trimming after supper and was soaked with sweat. This sucks. Took a bike ride to cool down and then came inside where it's cool. I hate the heat.
Strange thing is, the lawn is still growing like crazy. Usually it's all burned up by the 1st of July. We've had a lot of rain I guess.

357 is 1.290
38-40 is 1.305
So the chamber should clean up fine, then its just a matter of boring the through holes and a new barrel.
I might suggest another cylinder be made for moon clips for 10mm/ 40 short & weak but that'll cost a bit more clams!

Pretty cool setup. My dad has a 60 gun safe in his gun room. It isn't recessed though.
He, my uncle, and myself put it in his cellar. It was NOT fun. We lowered it down the rollway stairs with the winch on the Jeep. Then had to move it a long way, through 2 doorways, to the gunroom. I told him, "if wasn't inheriting all this, I'd never have done it". :D

Yeah Jay I helped a buddy get his down his basement steps, he & i were struggling when all of a sudden a guy stops gets out of his truck and helps us. That struck up a friendship and he started hunting with us. When I got my safe I hired a moving company, well worth every penny! Mine is in my basement , I should get one of those Snap Safe jobs for upstairs to put in a closet but first I gotta pay for truck repairs! Front end on my 07 is shot, ball joints, tie rods, alignment. All for the Low Low price of $2200! So much for my SO4... (Maybe that guy will let me make payments?)

I can't complain, I ordered the truck in 2006, all I have had to do so far is brakes, tires and a water pump. Brakes & tires are a given so im not complaining too much. I know how difficult it is to get those ball joints out- did em on my 01 and it required a lot of cussing and a 20 ton hydraulic press!

Another hot one today! Was drenched by 10am, rest of the roof is off, now to finish gutting inside. We've made 30 yards of junk already!

3 tons of wood pellets delivered yesterday. This morning I decided I was going to build a box , make a chute and just pour the pellets into the box without going up and down the stairs each & every bag.
I forgot about taking pictures while the chute was up, 8" PVC that I cut in half.
This holds 2 tons, I still have another ton to find a home for.
Oh and I built this on casters so I can roll this around with a simple lever and very little grunting :D

Well that just made my year!

Got a text from my kid. He had my grandson out squirrel hunting at the ripe old age of 3. Had him shooting the 10/22 I bought for my son when he was about 9. My son shot a squirrel while Clay watched what went on. Then took it home, had him help dress, cook, and eat it.
He said he can't wait to call Gramp and tell him about it.
I started my son about the same age. I have always been convinced that the younger someone is when you correctly teach them something, the better the result.

He also told me a couple buds were way out in the mountains and shot 2 deer. They got one, but couldn't get the other, so my son hiked several miles through pretty tough, mountainous country and packed it out for them all alone. I told him I hoped he at least got some meat. He told me they gave him half. I don't remember being that young. :D

Did you give all those Ben's for all those old boxes or did you clean house and get those ben's? A 100 bill weighs about 15 grains, a pound( not British)is approximately $470,000 .

Sure I'll be warm, but I'm still hurting after all that- still more to do. Beats cutting, splitting, stacking firewood though.

Well do I feel up to go shooting...?

Sure I'll be warm, but I'm still hurting after all that- still more to do. Beats cutting, splitting, stacking firewood though.

Well do I feel up to go shooting...?
Thank you, my friend.
Made me happy to hear about the tradition continuing.
Just sucks having them so far away.
We have another grandson on the way too! I gotta buy more guns! :D

Woooo! Selling an 86 buddy? That's a lotta bones!
I'd like another one. Thing is, I don't use the one I have haha.
I gotta get another stash saved up and get down there for some shopping. Problem is, I'm like a homeless dude on 5th Avenue when I'm at your place buddy hahaha! :D

It dawned on me the other day.....
Ole Six should have started a YouTube channel! Now THAT would have been entertainment!
Let's see....
The Sixgun Chronicles......Redneck in Paradise......?

I know he wouldn't do it. Neither would I. Ole Six likes to be low profile like me. Wouldn't have it any other way.
