The big one had just eaten an egg and the smaller one was waiting his turn for breakfast. They are not happy right now.

Egg thieves! Glad you are OK. Venomous or not, snakes often bite. Infection can occur.

.

I'd rather have that than the raccoons - they kill ALL the chickens, instead of just eating a few eggs... :|

I always thought that chickens would attack snakes and sometimes kill them.

Apparently our chickens are confirmed pacifists.

I've reached under a chicken and got a hand full of snake instead of an egg a few times. That will make you hurt yourself.

Even though the "official" name of the chicken snake is the Texas Rat Snake, their main diet is baby song birds.

I kill them all, with the blessings of the local wildlife biologist.

What Vance said + !.
Last week it was a TX Rat snake in a nest with an egg in its belly. One .357 rat shot to the head solved that.

All snakes are on notice inside my yard and I have been known to mow over them out in the pasture.

Mark, those brown snakes down there carry quite a wallop. I am glad we do not have them here.

You can put a wooden or glass egg out and they eat it and it will kill them because they cannot digest them.

The Lord has provided you with a belt and a hat-band in exchange for a couple of eggs.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
