*OT* Daughter's first pistol shoot

Post by mad mucus »

Yep... I'm a proud dad. :D

My only daughter turned eleven on 03MAY08 and I took her(legal minimum age is 11yrs+1day in Queensland) to my pistol club this evening on ladies night for her introduction.

With a Ruger MKII .22 and fifty standard velocity rounds, she managed to shoot the majority inside a 2.5" group on paper at about 20feet, two handed in the Weaver style.

She loved it, said her adrenalin was pumping and wished for more ammo. As it was closing time I had to say no. I think she's hooked.

I haven't got a .22 semi-auto... a Model 87 Beretta would be a nice addition. Suppose we'll have to gang-up on her mother.

Glad to see you getting the next generation involved as early as possible. That is my plan as well. Fortunately, my kid's grandfather (my FIL) has enough land that we can shoot anything we want right off the back porch. The kids started a mite earlier than 11 here!

Congrats MM - you did good!!! :D

I have two daughters that I have had similar experiences with, isn’t it great. I have also learned that an easy way to change the minds of those who are anti gun is to take them shooting. Once they try it, in almost every case they end up liking it and even change their opinions.

That's great. Hopefully she'll retain the bug as she gets older.

If you ever visit this side of the big pond, bring her to my house, and she can shoot a M1A right in our back yard! She'd love it.

Nice going Dad! I have had a lot of fun shooting with my girls, but they are starting to cut me loose now that they are older. I am sure they will be able to keep boys away though!

Way to go, we've got to keep the kids involved. I started all 3 of mine at age 5.

Awwww! Hard to find anything better than spending time shooting with your kids. You all made my evening. Next time I take my kids to the range, I'll have to take pics and post them.
