Another Tornado
This twister hit right at full dark a few nights ago. No one saw it, but the track it left rule out just another periodic wind storm. It lasted about 8 or 10 minutes and left damage 1/2 A mile wide, leveling my 100 yo barn, and knocking the 5th wheel off the Jack's even though about 95% of its 15,000 lb weight was on the Jack's very solidly. A half mile from my SW corner, downed mesquite littered the county road for a mile. 1 mile E, my good neighbor lost a number of rooftops , trees, and it weirdly picked up a 55 g barrel with 160lbs of oil in it, and floated it out of the carport and over a suburban without scratching it and deposited it 4o yards away. Just a bit E of there a tractor trailer turned over, ripped a big metal roof off, and moved another big building 4 in off the foundation, and snapped a half dozen power poles. 2 more miles S, my cuz lost half his barn, a huge old building constructed of heavy beams. 10 miles NE of his place had softball sized hail. Mesquite leaves were embedded everywhere. I expect a lot of my big old trees to be down, which means time for a big bbq. No reports of injured people or livestock. The ranch is now an ocean of mud, it will take a week or 2 to dry out so I can get to work out there, hopefully before it starts getting hot. Thank God I've been blessed with a big fine son (19) to help with this heavy work. My wife is hell with a shotgun, and will be on constant snake patrol while we do the hard work. Ranches/farms are always dangerous places even if there were no snakes, she busted some ribs there recently.

Re: Another Tornado
Sorry to hear about that but I'm glad that no-one got hurt.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Re: Another Tornado
hope everyone gets repaired before the Heat arrives. i'd rather ride out a hurricane in the ocean than get messed up by a tornado.
Re: Another Tornado
Bummer for sure, hope all gets back in order soon.

Re: Another Tornado
Prayers up for all. I have said it before, Tornadoes are no joke. They do some crazy stuff. Back in the later 50s, there was a tornado hit Enid, Oklahoma. Dad went with a friend to help that friend's relatives to fix up after a tornado. Dad said the telephone poles with wheat straw stuck in them were scary to see. It takes some just right and dangerous conditions to stick a piece of what is essentially dried grass into a wood pole at a 90 degree angle.

Right now, about 20 minutes before 7pm, we are in a Tornado Watch. West of us nearer the Ft Worth area it is raining with some severe hail. The weather on local news said that some circulation was happening.

I’m sorry to hear about your losses. Thank God nobody was hurt.
Re: Another Tornado
We escaped without any real issues. The Tornadoes were North of us, in the Plano area, and South of us, near Hillsboro. I have not heard yet about damages. Prayers up for those in the path of destruction.

Re: Another Tornado
I won't get back to Texas until Thursday, I'm hoping my place is still intact. Glad there were no injuries.

Re: Another Tornado
I heard on the radio as I was stop-and stop-and go-and stop in traffic that three 18 wheelers were tipped over in Waxahachie. One driver was injured. Have not heard of any other injuries.
Took 2 hours to drive 26 miles.

One touched down near me this week, hitting a barn... full of turkeys. Killed 250 of them.
