“Tactical” rail for the Rossi

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

Here’s my latest experiment. A rail to put a red dot on an old Rossi.44 Trapper.

What I did not expect is a rear sight.

Interesting...I'd like to see what that looks like mounted on the Rossi.
Where did you get that?

I found it online. I’ll post photos from mounting it.

Took the rear sight out and replaced it with this dovetail.

The rail mounts with a screw on the side of the receiver.

.

That's a very tidy rail. It looks good. Not out of place.

I like that, and even though I've never really had a scope 'fail' it is still cool to have a backup sight...

I think this works but it won’t fit a saddle scabbard.

I looked at those but decided to pick up a rail from skinners. It came today and works great

I think I am going to cut off the excess rail in front of the dovetail screw. It serves no purpose and just allows an opportunity to have something get out of whack.

Showed this to my wife and she thought it was a good idea.

So my question is, what non-battery sight would be good to use on my my 94Trapper .45 for home defense at night?

I don't know Joe, I use a shotgun for such purposes.

Joe, you could use an eotech rmr with tritium.

Scott's shotgun would be a far more affordable way to go. Those eotech rmr with tritium type sights are way out of my budget.

I set a rifle against a tree to pee and a drop of water fell out of the tree onto the lens and somehow got into the scope. Fogged instantly. Had a backup peep and got a deer that morning. Leupold replaced the scope.
Kind regards,
Tycer
