I walked into a local shop about five years ago , scanning the used gun rack behind the counter . I could see a Marlin bulls eye in a stock and a Marlin sling. I asked the clerk about it . He hands it over to Me saying it's just an old Marlin .218 Bee . . It comes with two boxes of ammo ....I look it over , It's pretty dusty, dirty, nasty. I flip over the price tag $349.00 . needless to say about an hour of My time turned it from a 50% condition to 80% . why they never attempted to clean it up is beyond Me. :D .

I bought one in Dickson City PA at a Gunshow about 16 years ago . I know I paid to much at the time but I wanted it . Kept it about 6-8 years sold it on GB for I know more then what it was worth and made a decent profit 8)

I don't remember ever paying $1100 for one gun let alone a used gun, is that a good price?

Sounds like you haven't bought a gun in a while. Seems like most remotely desirable guns, new or used are at least a grand now. I also never thought I would pay that much for a gun. Until I did.

I had something similar to that happen at a semi local Gunshop a few years back except it was for a Marlin 1894M 22 MAG . Gun had set in the rack for awhile at a decent price snd id not noticed it . Came in one day and it was on the same rack marked down from a decent price to a more decent price . I took it up to the counter and asked a few questions and ended up getting for a much more decent price than marked . Kept it a few years sold it on GB and TRIPLED my money .

When I find a used gun I like, I'm excited if it's only $1100! Seems everything I want or love runs twice that or more!

I sure would enjoy having that Marlin for plinking! If you think $1,100.00 is crazy I saw a Marlin 1894 in 38 spl. only with the fake color casing for $1,600.00 on gunbroker. That's the model used for cowboy action. I always wanted on ,I just never saw on in person. Prices are pretty over blown for 2021! Hopefully everything will settle down by summer. It's not likely with anti gun socialists taking over!

They're fun to play with. With ear muffs on it sounds like a 22LR and recoil isn't much more.

If I ever saw a 218 Bee in person that was in decent shape I wouldn't mind parting with a grand or so. While I am comfortable buying guns online from folks on here based on photos, in general it gives me the willies.
