First Brand New gun in a while, Ruger
Well, I haven't been buying any guns, too much, lately, especially new guns, but one finally tripped my trigger. I just don't get too excited about plastic much, but a wood stocked gun is another animal. I found this Brand New Ruger 10/22, with a pretty cool wood stock, and I guess they are only making a thousand of them. At least it says so on the gun, not that it matters much to me.
Of course I took it right home and shot a couple of boxes of shells out of it. It ran great, no malfunctions, and the iron sights are dead on. I think it's going to be a keeper.

That wood looks pretty. Glad it shoots well.

Here's the left side, has a cheek piece, not that it matters much to me, since I normally shoot left handed, but I kind of like the looks of them.

Nice find...
My local dealer says that he has a wooden stock for my Magtech semi auto .22 but can't find it amongst all the junk he collects. I can not warm to the black plastic so common today.

I just love blued steel and wood as opposed to a plastic stock which seems like the default stock, offered anymore.

I've never owned a 10-22, never liked the looks. I've shown your pics to my wife and said she can buy me one for my b-day.
Right .... she wants to know where the fabric the rifle is laying on came from. She wants some.
I checked the Ruger site and didn't see it listed. Is it a distributor special?

Classy looking rifle...seems to have a full sized buttstock like a 77/22.
Always liked the look of a light colored stock......slap on a decent scope and see what it does at 50 and 100 with good ammo.....I'd be interested in seeing the results as most 10/22's are OK in the accuracy dept but nothing to write home about.
A regular Leupold scope and possibly an aftermarket trigger and you'd have a match rifle. ----6

Re: First Brand New gun in a while, Ruger
Between me and the kids, we have serval 10/22s, ranging from one that is “tactical” (light, laser, EoTech holographic sight, etc.) that I use all the time if there’s something in the chicken coop or something like that that needs taken care of, to a wood-stocked one with a heavy target barrel, and everything in between. A few years back I got the take down model, because the threaded barrel made it a natural to suppress. I think the last one I bought was the pistol version they call the Charger. I thought my son might use it as a back up pot-meat gun for when he was backpacking and only had a high-powered rifle for bear or elk hunting. The problem with it is that the stock was too heavy, but I have ordered a lightweight aluminum pistol stock for it that accommodates the same light weight folding arm brace the 9 mm PC Charger uses. For the time being, since the barrel is threaded and I can suppress it, I mounted an older model bulky night vision scope on the Charger, and it is perfect (with the bipod of course) for picking off rabbits trying to get in the garden at night.
The 10/22 is kind of a rimfire version of the AR 15 in that you can set them up to look and function about any way you want to.

Don't know where the quilt came from, we have had it for many years. I think it was just a Walmart purchase or something.J Miller wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 3:48 pmLastmohecken,Lastmohecken wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 1:28 pm Here's the left side, has a cheek piece, not that it matters much to me, since I normally shoot left handed, but I kind of like the looks of them.

My gun dealer friend, got it in from his normal supplier, but I don't know who that is. I believe it is a limited run, though. And he only got the one in, so when I saw it, I didn't hesitate to buy it. I will maybe see him tomorrow and I will try to remember to ask him where he got it.

Nice looking rifle you bought. I used to have a walnut stocked 10/22 thirty years ago that was really nice. Wish they still made guns like that.

My dealer friend say he bought it from Davison's or maybe it Davidson's. He only got one in and wishes he had bought more.

Re: First Brand New gun in a while, Ruger
Yes, that has been my experience, also. I have a real old one with a walnut stock, that doesn't shoot that great. But I do have another fairly old one with an aftermarket stock, it was kind of rough when I got it used, but has always shot very good groups, about as good as any .22, I have ever had.Sixgun wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 3:55 pm Classy looking rifle...seems to have a full sized buttstock like a 77/22.

I do have another one, with a full length stock on it, bought used with a cheap Simmons scope on it, which I intended to swap out for a better scope, but that darn thing shoots really good, so I left it as is for now. I didn't really expect it to shoot all that good with the full length stock but it does. Still yet, they all could benefit from a trigger upgrade, and maybe I will later on.
