POLITICS - what exactly is a "level" action gu
I was reading through the Democrats' (sorry to be political, but the sponsors are ALL Democrats!) gun bill , and hoping our precious leverguns would be exempted, but now I'm not so sure...

`(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any firearm that--
`(A) is manually operated by bolt, pump, level, or slide action;
What exactly is a "level" gun...?
Anyway, it looks like several gun bills are smoldering along right now.
This Assault Weapon bill (which won't likely be totally enacted, but our courageoud legislators will 'compromise' and only ban maybe HALF the guns listed).
The National Parks Carry bill.
The Nationwide CCW Reciprocity bill.
1. Anyone know the latest status on the other two bills?
2. Anyone else going to the NRA meetings in Louisville?

This post seems like a good tip. Thanks for setting us straight. For now I'll just float or bob along.

That's just it - "bolts, levels, and pumps" is what it says - and you KNOW they'd hold us to any little error or 'technicality' we were mistaken on. So that accidental typo if uncorrected would undoubtedly result in some poor levergunner winding up spending thousands of dollars and having his gun collection seized, to hopefully in the end 'prove' himself innocent. These days I'm not even sure he'd win in court, judging by some of the cases I've seen in the news.20cows wrote:Maybe I missunderstood reading through the whole mess, but I thought it said bolts, levers and pumps were NOT to be included in the "assault" group.
Yeah, I know it's a 'misprint' but I was just sarcastically trying to point out their 1) stupidity, and 2) another gun law coming at us.
Unfortunately, 90% of the gun owners simply scan a proposed law, and if it doesn't affect or inconvenience THEM personally, they shrug it off and say "who cares?" Sadly, that attitude will result in erosion of ALL our freedoms eventually, whether it be regarding evil black rifles, leverguns, or free speech and property ownership.
