do I need a 41mag
Always I like the 41. Never got one. Still the thought is still their?
Pro on con?
I have a 44 sp bulldog, but I am thinking, I should get on for my levers for 41. mag. comments.
PS. wife says no.
But is an issue that needs to work out. (I have given all that stuff to the last wife.)
P.S. my second wife and I've
have been married to 36 yrs.)
Do you folks have an itch for a gun that meets all needs that I have?

You should compromise and get a 10mm.

We're talking about GUNS here. Your wife has no say in the matter whatsoever.
Re: do I need a 41mag
What is this word? "need"? It does not fit into a sentence about firearms!

Re: do I need a 41mag
My dad bought one of the first year production Ruger BlackHawk .41 mags. it took me many years later to own one but now own three. They fit right in between the .357 and the .44 mag nicely. You do NEED one for sure.

Re: do I need a 41mag
YES
I picked up an early Blackhawk, I put a brass grip frame on it with cocobolo panels. It's my dog walking bear gun.
Then I found a Henry Big Boy 41 mag. Lilgun and 210s at every bit of 1800 fps! BTW Hornady will not guarantee the xtp to not blow up at these velocities. The guys at Nosler say sure those will work fine on deer type critters.
I'm going to get a mould at some point.

.
Once upon a time, I also thought I needed a .41 Mag...……………...but after I bought/fired a S&W Model 58, I found out that I really didn't need one that badly.

Re: do I need a 41mag
YES! I would use a few expletives but they'd just get left out. I've owned Blackhawks, 57s, 58s, Marlins and the 58s probably the best for a duty gun when loaded with 190 grain bullets at about 1000 fps. A Vacquero Bisley might be nice too. Or did Ruger ever make one? Maybe I've found another need.

Re: do I need a 41mag
No, better off with 357, 44 or 45 but if you have one and reload you do not need the others.
Re: do I need a 41mag
I carried a M58 on duty for several years and I'd have to say I'd never own another one. IMHO the .41 is like the red headed step child. Either a .357 or a .44 is much more versatile. There just isn't enough variety to suit me. A .44 mag with .44 special loads in it will pretty much match it from top to bottom and be easier to come by as well.

What is this,"No?!"No, better off with 357, 44 or 45 but if you have one and reload you do not need the others
Of course ya need one! Sheesh......
Actually, ya need more than one:
1. S&W Model 57 or 657 with a 3" or 4" barrel for social work.
2. A Marlin or Henry levergun for hunting.
3. A Ruger Blackhawk with a long barrel for hunting.
4. And you really need a Ruger DA converted to 41 Special by Hamilton Bowen,
just 'cuz they're wicked cool.
Although a S&W revolver in 10mm would be nice to have as well. One of these
days I've got to do something about that.......and that 41 Special mentioned above.

What does "need" have to do with it?

Re: do I need a 41mag
Totally agree w/ Pete! I have had several, desperately trying to warm up to that cartridge thinking I had to have it. Not more accurate than my .44s, 45s, 10mm, etc. Someone finally got ahold of me and said " Do you think anything but a paper target is going to care what you shot it with?"
Made sense to me. One less round to look after. Got enough already,

Re: do I need a 41mag
I have a Ruger old model and a S&W 8 3/8” and I enjoy shooting the S&W the most, but the Ruger is fun and neither will be sold until I a too senile to enjoy life!
If I ever find a Marlin rifle in .41 at any LGS or Pawn Shop, I most likely will be enjoying it.
Buy a .41 and experience the pleasure. It will not be upset with you or pout.
Life is short. Whomever said NEED has nothing to do with it is Absolutely correct.

Re: do I need a 41mag
I understand the "need" for the .41. I however see no "need" for a negative minded wife.
Re: do I need a 41mag
I don't understand all of the discussion. Of course you need a .41 mag.

If the wife doesn’t come around and see the error of her ways, buy her something that she’s wants and a win win ending.
