Actually, I already read the first one, which inspired me to order the other two. The first one I couldn't put down and read it a couple weekends ago. It is about a huge bunch of small forest fires fused into one, about a hundred years ago that swept through Idaho and Montana, and how the mixed and conflicting forces of Roosevelt and the fledgling National Park system, railroads, people moving to settle out west, politicians, and the timber industry, all played out. It truly shaped timber and resource management for all of us to this day.
The second is in interesting look into the very scientific part of T.R.'s nature interest. He was no amateur or mere hunter and observer.
The third is about his post-electoral-defeat excursion to South America. I always knew he went to Africa (which the second book gets in to), but was unaware of the South American venture.
So....I'll be busy when the weather is bad (or if I'm just lazy and want some tea - or bourbon - and a good book)...
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws "first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.
I just found a book online recently. I had been looking for it for some time. The Winchester 30/30 model 94. Written by Sam Fadala MD. It lasted two days until finished. Now I'm ready to dig out all the 30/30's and the "coon fingering" will commence! Everything I've read by Dr. Fadala is first rate and puts you in the story. I haven't spent much time with the 30/30 since the 45/70 hunting phase. This will be my woods bumming rifle for a while now. MK
