I reckon I can say those two men were blessed by God with his protection.

Not just lucky, but as JerryB said, very blessed! And thank God his partner reacted and stopped the bear attack with a couple shots of bear spray! This should help convince those who say it doesn't work too.

Of course it's not a firearm in capable hands. But bear spray is extremely effective, and proven to be so. Far more times it works, and in the few occasions it didn't, it's likely the spray didn't get a chance to work before the human was already under attack.BlaineG wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:34 pmBut, not even close to every time.marlinman93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 3:26 pm Not just lucky, but as JerryB said, very blessed! And for hikers, or people out in the woods without a gun, it's certainly better than running, or rolling up in a ball.

It seems to me that while this fellow was caught at an initial disadvantage, he was prepared "in the event".
He had the gear that he needed and a solid hunting partner.
Thank the Lord for that.
If his partner had not been well equipped or had let fear determine his actions, that guy would be dead.
JMO.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

Well, running puts you on the menu. So does giving up.marlinman93 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 8:57 amOf course it's not a firearm in capable hands. Call me cynical, but the main proponents of Bear Spray seem to cite a USGS 2012 study and IMO the USGS (Obama's USGS) are bunny huggers. As a Gubment Ranger at the Oregon Caves told me: "If you shoot one of "my" bears you better be missing an arm or I'll see you in prison".
You are probably correct in that the average schmo that is not a shooter can't hit the broad side of a barn, let along a charging bear. It's also pretty much proven that if you shoot a Grizz that you had better have overwhelming proof that your life was in danger. Evidently, gubment values grizz over humans.

Evidently, gubment values anything and everything over and above the lives of American citizens.
