.

I like the workmanship on the brass-frame Henry 1860, but AFAIK if you want an iron frame, you'll have to go with the Uberti.

Yes, the Henry brassie is more expensive than the Uberti brassie, but "made in America" just HAS to be worth the difference IMHO.

IIRC, Henry Customer Service is faster (and arguably better) than Uberti, should you need whatever, in the future.

Henry USA does make an "iron-framed" Henry, but at a MSRP of $2,750, it's nearly twice the price of the Uberti version. My Uberti, imported by EMF, is a fine gun, when I picked it up several years ago, it was under a grand...

I saw an iron frame Henry on the rack at Wally World and it was $2999.95. I regularly see Ubertis for under a grand. Try looking at the SASS classifieds. I know where there is one for $600 in 45 Colt. It's a brass frame.

I have owned Uberti made 1860 Henry and Henry transition models.
I have not owned but have handled more than one Henry "original model".
I personally like the Ubertis better and they are half the price.

Look at them both before you buy. The Henry's I seen were way over buffed

Thanks for the advice I ll probably be buying the uberti ,found out a brass frame henry version is selling for 3 grand up here in Canada so the steel version would be way out of the sensible price range

I've saw some poor quality stuff from Henry. I'd personally probably lean towards the Uberti.

Yeah, but you got a good deal. :D

If you go with the brass look I think the Henry Henry will be the stronger of the two. What HRA use ain't brass. If it were brass like the Uberti they (HRA) would not have made the Big Boys in 44mag.

That is assuming the HRA 1860 is made from the same stuff.

Maybe, but I've never given over a grand for an Uberti rifle. I've had (and still have) several. Patience is a virtue in the hunt.

Actually there's a story behind the "deal" I got. One of first 5 rifles that EMF imported in 45 Colt is a '73 Sporting Rifle that sits in my safe. It was made back in 1986, and while I'm a second owner, it was thru Boyd Davis' (owner & founder of EMF), auspices that I came into the rifle in early 1987. The "Steel Framed Henry" that I got was the last rifle in 45 Colt that Uberti exported to EMF. Boyd felt that as I had the first, it was fitting that I also have the last. he knew that as a long time BP competitor in SASS that I'd enjoy the heck out of it. Since I shoot most big matches (the few I attend), with 1851 Navies, (the first of which I first bought from him in 1986), and knew that while I was competitive, I wasn't so much focused on winning, as "looking right" and enjoying myself... as did he! After shooting with him for 5 years before moving to TX, we were always teasing and eggin' each other!
