Marlin 336 forend

Post by Hawkins »

I have a waffle top Marlin 336, I believe the date of manufacture is 1952. It has the large style forend. Does anyone know if the rear barrel band and screw are the same as current production?

Thanks!

No they are not the same, the diameter is different "smaller".

The change to a larger screw occurred in 1984 Thus, all pre '84 336 models have the small screw setup.

I got one from Jack First if you call them just tell the girl what you need she knows her stuff, that's where I got mine from.

They ship super quick!

I bought a few extra just in case I buy another older Marlin. And I'm sure I will

MossyOak,

Thank you very much! I wasn't familiar with Jack First. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Jack First didn't have the older parts. Any other suggestions for a source? Thanks!

Numrich? Although you need to be careful to ensure you're getting the right part... sometimes they're not the best at identifying them correctly.

Griff,

Yeah, I checked Numrich, but they only list one band--no differentiation between old and new, no matter which 336 variant you look at. Plus, they're sold out.
