I scored on a few hundred, new 358 Win. brass, Winchester brand from a gun shop down east here in Maine. I decided to check on brass weight I was surprised the weight was close to 4 grains higher than Hornady or older Winchester brass that I have on hand. With that much increase I'm thinking of cutting back on some of my max loads, Right?

I'm not an expert, but wouldn't comparing the old to new capacity be more accurate?

I'm no expert either but I was more referring to high pressure. I just find it odd there is that much variation in brass weight between my old stock and the new Winchester brass.BlaineG wrote:I'm not an expert, but wouldn't comparing the old to new capacity be more accurate?

Re: 358 Winchester Brass
A 4 grain weight difference is nothing. I sometimes get that with brass from the same lot. Just checking the difference between 308 military brass and commercial r-p brass is 14 grains and yes, we are told to be careful with that much of a difference but even that is very little unless your working at the 52k range.
I've never used 358 brass in my 358's.....just ran a 308 case through a 35 Whelen expander plug.----6
