Mounted a Marbles tang sight on my Savage 99 .300. Took 5 minutes, including removing the original buckhorn sight and replacing it with a dovetail blank. Took about a half box to get zeroed. I think it works just fine.
I circled the final grouping below. I think it's definitely "minute-of-deer" with Remington 150gr factory loads. Also installed a set of QR swivels for the Montana sling.
Scope? We don' need no stinking scope!!!

Yea, I agree with the boys here. I never did care much for regular open sights and a good tang sight will shoot as good as a scope out to 200 meters or so.-----6
Oh yeah, that looks perfect, Stew. I just put one of those Marble's on an elderly M92 that my dad bought when he was a kid. The sight went on nice, like you say. But it took a lot longer than 5 minutes to get the Buckhorn sight out, when I count the 2-hour soak in Kroil.

That will keep you shooting a few more years. Extending the sight rearward sure does a lot to improve the bullet placement.
I like those Marbles with the ready to adjust windage. Have a receiver sight on our 99 in 300 Savage. Does make a fast way to sight
