The odds finally caught up to me.
Back in the day when I was shooting IPSC, then IDPA, and building 1911s, I built, and sold, my absolute favorite carry gun no less than 3 times.
I was building the equivalent of the Colt CCO, an Officer's Lower with a Bushinged Commander upper, and went through more parts guns to make "my" gun than is healthy... then sold it/them to guys with wads of cash in hand (usually after a Limited match).
But in current years, I haven't had the time, energy or money to play that game, and no one was producing such an animal, so I went without.
Enter Metro Arms... dang them.

I think it's only been out for just over a year, but I now have a NIB American Classic Compact Commander on Lay Awake. It has all the bells and whistles that I would have added (except beveled mag well) for a whopping $700 local price ($709 on Guns America). It even looks like the last one I built from Colt parts:

Can't build one for that price.
Now I've got to get ACP ammo again, because this WILL be my EODC (every other day... when not carrying the SP101) gun.
I am happily annoyed... but have to decide about whether or not to keep the Ziggy 9 for a truck gun or sell it and 2500rds of ball...
