Need some help IDing this scat. Just closed on 11 timbered acres on a mountainside with a good road to the center of the property. Lots of deer, elk and moose as evidenced by their leavings on the road in and on the leveled area excavated out of the mountainside. No close neighbors as this is the last plated lot on the road. I will be gateing the access so I can store trailers and some other stuff and will eventually build a pole barn for storage/hunting camp. So.. Back to the subject at hand, is this bear poop? (I don't think so), or wolf? This is off Hell's Gulch road and one boundary of this parcel is the south fork of Hell's Gulch creek. Benewah County. The Mods have said we can discuss ANYTHING here politely...

Definitely NOT black bear poop. I've seen lots and lots of black bear scat and it never looks like that. At least our black bears don't poop like that.

small/medium dog or coyote. If you pick it apart you may get evidence. Dog probably mostly eats dogfood and has real stinky scat without much definition. Coyote would have hair for sure and probably bone pieces throughout. I guess I'm thinking from the size comparison to the foot it isn't big enough for wolf.
