I continue to accumulate lever action rifles. This time it is more modern although these weren't made in any large numbers. It is a Sako Finnwolf in 308. It is in exceptional condition and goes well with the 243 i already have...
I never was a big follower of a Savage 99 or a Winny 88 but I gotta admit the Finnwolf's caught my attention years ago . Just never got one . Although I have owned a bunch of Sako bolt guns .
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
IIRC, one of our board members (Victor ?) has a few of those (along with all his other leverguns) - and methinks he has a Sako factory clip-on receiver sight on at least one.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?
Greetings
That is one fine looking lever rifle. I did not know the Sako company made them. But it has all the looks of a quality rifle that Sako is well known for. Have to start being a bit more alert for alternate lever flippers.

I am lucky and have 3, two lookers(like new), one shooter (Vg++, just enough wear I don't feel guilty shooting it once and awhile. The triggers are crisp and very light. All three shoot tiny groups, very Sako ish. They are too pretty to hunt hard but they are sweet shooters. If you come across spare magazine, grab it, they are worth their weight in gold.
Win88 vs Finnwolf. I have owned two 88s, kept the carbine version. The 88 is a totally different beast to me. Just about as accurate as the Finnwolf (at least the 2, 308's I have shot). Trigger is total *&^!XX$, like dragging through mud with gravel compared to Sako's glass rod like break. The Sako is a bit delicate(take alook at the pictures of the action, don't take one apart though unless you are a wealthy engineer, little tricky pieces and if you loose or break one, that's when you will find having LOTS of money comes in , the 88 on the other hand is Yankee sturdy. My experience at least.

Very true. Don't dry fire it either. The pivot point on the hammer is delicate. I had one here recently that was broke. Never did locate a replacement. I had to weld it up to rebuild it. A real pain. $$$$
Between the Savage 99 and the 88, I always felt like the 88 felt like a bloated oar... But the shoot good. Wish they had better wood/ergonomics...
C2N14... because life is not energetic enough. מנא, מנא, תקל, ופרסין Daniel 5:25-28... Got 7.62?

Sure is a nice lever. As much out of my price league now; as when I was making minimum wage back in '77. Will it be featured in and upcoming Handloader magazine? Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

That is hard to tell at this time. We have a stack of guns we are working with, but these would make a nice article...
