Did a little moving around of my accumulation today and ended up with what I hope is a nice old Parker EH 10 gauge on a #3 frame with 32" barrels the gun serial numbers to 1899 .
By the Parker serialization book the gun is correct , but I'll be better satisfied when I can go over it in hand and check the serial numbers in the wood etc . The gun has three or four semi minor issues but nothing to stop it from being a nice collectable shooter . Provided it isn't any worse then advertised

Looks perty dern good to me, BUT I don't know a lot about then, or anything else for that matter
Never under estimate your ability , you most likely have more knowledge then you give yourself credit .
The gun in the less then great pics looks well used to me but I'm hoping in real life it looks a bit better . The only issues I'm aware of with the gun are the hole from a swivel stud in the butt stock and the homemade swivel stud in the under rib of the barrels and last but not least a chip in the toe .
I "think" all that stuff can be remedied fairly easily but won't know until it arrives . Main thing is that the gun locks up tight and on face , the barrels ring and the bored are not deeply pitted .

1899 isn't that old for my accumulation .
Have a Parker GH 12 gauge that's circa 1891 .
An LC Smith Quality 2 10 gauge that was made in 1890 .
A Parker EH 10 gauge that's 1889 the actual second year of Parker hammerless production .
A Parker Grade 2 top lever hammer 10 gauge that's circa 1884 .
A Parker Grade 2 lifter hammer 10 gauge that's circa 1882 .
And finally my maternal grandfathers old W&C Scott hammerless 10 gauge that's circa 1881 .

Yes
I think I have nine Parkers at the moment .
Still like to get an 8 a nice VHE 16 and perhaps a VH 28 .
And I wish I had kept the circa 1913 VH 12 gauge 32" F/XF with factory english stock I let go to a friend a few months ago . That gun was stocked like a trap or pigeon gun . The friend I sold it to used it at the VA State Trap Shoot SxS Event this year and won with it .

The Parker arrived today . And to be honest it exceeded what I was expecting by a good bit !
The bores in this thing are like mirrors , the barrel rang true when I tapped them , all the pertitnent places had matching serial numbers and the gun locks up tight and on face . I think the stock had been refinished or finish added .

That's purty...
I have no Parkers I'm (maybe you know by posts) a Remington guy...
Looks a lot like my 1894 Model F.
Some would cringe but I sent it to a friend to redo the wood, I'm not sure both parts were original to the firearm.
When he's done they will look it and it's a shooter so it's what I want.
I think this guy could build a replacement stock out of toothpicks and wouldn't it know it wasn't original

This guns had the wood redone at some point and it appears whomever did it used sandpaper a touch heavy around the tang top and bottom in the pistol grip area as the metal is a touch proud in the top and the bottom .
To be honest I've had my eyes open looking for a decent Remington 1894 in 10 gauge preferably not the lowest or highest grade . Something in the middle .

I load for six gauges and have seven 10 gauge side by sides .
My own personal preference is for the 10 , 16 and 28 gauges . Although I have quite a few 12's . 20's and 410's .
Parker made some EH 10 gauge guns with 28" barrels I'll keep looking until I find an EH or NH with 28" pipes . They also made a very few with 26" and 24" pipes I'd love one of each but the numbers on those are small enough that that's more then likely a not gonna happen !
I've got a Parker Grade 2 hammer top lever 10 gauge on a #3 frame with 32" barrels , kinda want a Parker Grade 2 hammer top lever 10 gauge on a #2 frame with 30" pipes as well .

Monday morning weather permitting I plan on trying this new to me Parker with handloaded #1 Bismuth on the pattern board . And then try hanloaded 000 , 00 , 0 , 1 and 2 buckshot all buffered but shoot these on paper at 25 yards the Bismuth I'll try at 40 yards .

I know very little about shotguns, I have a 1894, a 32, and a 870 that's about it. The only pipes I have is are 4 or 5 inch long and I prefer Ascorti's

I've been fooling with this stuff for 45 years . Rifles , shotguns and handguns although my intrest in handguns has waned noticeably . I grew up in a house where the only shotguns were single barrel SxS or O/U . So I've had doubles of my own for 40 years . My first was a nice old WW Greener DH-40 12 gauge which I still have , I bought that one in 1976 for $425 I was 15 years old ! Guns worth somewhere close to 3G's now . Not a lot in the whole scheme of double barrel things but not cheap either .

Cool. I've got one side by side with a set of long(ish) 26" barrels and a coach gun set. I have a problem with the short barrels not firing the left barrel. I keep meaning to get it to 86er for fix... but never think of it at the appropriate times. But, it's cool to have a pair to swap between... or it would be if mine worked!

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!

The serial numbers won't match but atleast I'll have a set of 32" full and full barrels for the State Trap Shoot SxS event next year !
Should be very little if any problem to get them fit up . I like the fact that the original fore end to the barrels is coming with them so no Mickey Mouse stuff will need to be done with the fore end hook up by using my 10 gauge fore end on the 12 gauge barrels .

Congratulations on your new to you Parker. I love side by sides, and own several, but I have wanted a Parker for years and just never seemed to come up with one I could afford that I liked until this last Tulsa Gun Show. I came home with a 12 Ga VH, made in 1927 according to the numbers. Now if I could just find a nice Fox A grade to go with it.
Got an email today from the fellow I got the extra barrels and forend from . He received my funds Saturday and barrels will go in the mail Monday . So since he's in NY state and I'm in VA I would think I should have in hand by Friday and hopefully sometime next week everything will be fit up !

Well the snow Monday kept the shop closed !
So I got in Tuesday and dropped off the EH and the 12 gauge barrels and forend .My buddy however wasn't able to take time to finish fitting them .Today he was closed for blueing and didn't have time .
So I won't be able to test fire them until I return from the Philippines the end of March . I'm really interested to shoot patterns both barrels with my low pressure trap/skeet loads and then shoot a round of trap or two .
The bore diameter of the right barrel is .734" and the choke measures .695" for 39 points of constriction . The left bore diameter is .732" and the choke measures .690" for 42 points of constriction . That's tight full and extra full !
Thing should be great for trap and jap trap .
