1876 Winchester circa 1877
This old Winchester Model 1876 28" rb. 45/60wcf came along a few wks ago, and it is the oldest of my 1876 Winchesters (circa 1877). The outside appearance shows a life of use but not abuse. The mechanics and bore are in better than normal condition. The old rifle was found in Oregon . I wish I knew its story of how it ended up there 138 yrs. after leaving the Winchester warehouse. After receiving the old rifle I gave it an inspection and cleaning , once that was completed The old rifle was pronounced Fit For Duty. I dug out the 1880 Winchester 45/60wcf mold and cast some bullets out of WW that dropped from the mold @ .458 with a weight of 296gr.lube was the usual bees wax/tallow 50/50, CCI #200 ,Jammison case filled with Swiss 2ff bp. All assembled with an original Winchester tong tool. At 50yds the first two shots were a bit low. Small sight move had the old rifle hitting as good as I could hold today . The old 76 is not the best finish 1876 Winchester that I have but it has a look of a well worn rifle from the Old West that hase seen the Elephant . Today she proved she can still do her job and do it well. ,,,,DT

Good evening
That is a fine looking 1876 ! That is a treasure to be cared for and happily shot. Mine is about 10 years later and looks no better. They are without a doubt an interesting Winchester model to be put to use.

Dusty, you must be buying up all the old 76 Winchesters out there. That is another fine looking rifle for your collection though. Good shooting.
